    they definitely can make it illegal, if it is exchanged for USD. they can also tax the shit out of it.

    it may be difficult for the gov't to enforce exchanging btc for something else, like gold, which you can already do.

    They can make laws relating to USD exchange, or try to shut down exchanges like Coinbase, but they have neither the jurisdiction nor any enforcement mechanism to make bitcoin itself illegal. I doubt they would even try, but if they did it would fail.

    yes you are saying what I said. They won't/can't outlaw the possession of btc, but the SALE of it for USD.

    I agree. But to a certain extent, the hardcore believers will still be trading bitcoin P2P. Especially those where bitcoin is actually safer and more reliable than their government’s fiat. And since btc has a gazillion decimals, the “value” of btc will skyrocket in that country because you artificially cut off the remaining unmined btc supply.

    But I agree that the government can definitely shut down all exchanges. I think they’ll find a way to heavily tax it, if anything else.

    Haha
    Troy, who is still receiving counselling after a promising ballroom dancing career was brought to an abrupt end last year, following a freak accident involving a Walnut Whip, remained defiant. “I just want my case to serve as a warning to others” he said “This time it was a mouse, but next time it could be a Beaver or summat.”

    Bone stock. Pls mod me.
    I was mining Litecoin back in 2013 during the BTC bubble and was starting to wind down because of the extremely rapid growth of the difficulty rating, and finally dismantled my stuff after BTC and the other popular crpytos at the time, including Litecoin, crashed. Since then, I haven't paid much attention to cryptocurrencies until the Etherium bonanza made it impossible to buy a graphics card.

    Good Documentary. Holy crap what I would do to have an entire bitcoin at only $630. But dude, that slice of pizza he bought for .0083btc is $64 today. I bet he regrets that.

    I was just re-watching that documentary because I saw it awhile back. I wanted to understand more of the mining concept...it makes more sense now.

    Effort = time = money

    Regardless of how it's done.

    Expensive pizza and coffee for sure!

    I have been eyeing ripple coin, its at .22 Cents.
    I figure if I am going to get into this and be cheap, willing to be patient - throw $100 or $200 at ripple now.
