Well here's me after I flipped my truck... The bumper tubing was welded poorly (I bought someone's old weld it yourself Relentless) but I am not sure about the design of the wings on this bumper because there wasn't much to hold it off the body and keep it from bending. I could understand if just the hoop bent and broke, but it too the whole wing and bent it in and down. Probably just poorly welded by the guy that originally bought it, it was $300 so I'm not going to cry about it haha

Could get a good deal on a camper top and all-pro rear bumper. Put me down for both :D.

Excuse me as i wipe egg off my face.

I just crawled under the truck - and looked, and looked. Nothing is as i remember (false memory?) .. i remember seeing crush can structures in the sub-frame. I don't see them looking now.

I had a defective ARB the first time around (appeared that a loading tow-motor ran up on it, and squished it end to end) - i installed
the first time, and had to take to the shop for removal and replacement on warranty. At that time they indicated that the sub-frame was left in place since it was installed correctly, and was straight.. so it's not even a matter of parts being swapped out.

I don't know what to say. If it was 10 degrees warmer, i'd be out there pulling the damn thing off, just to confirm or dismiss this apparent false memory for my own sake...

Some that our customers have sent us. In all cases the air bags worked as designed. In low impacts they didn't go off and in big impacts they did.

Two instances from a tight trail and a tree. Just had bark on it

Rear ended a land rover type car at maybe 10mph difference, interstate locked it up and 1st gen brakes plus 33" mud tires=pucker time

When I first got it my dad hit a bank going maybe 30mph due to ice

We've had a few photos sent over the years, I'd have to try and dig some up. Most recent I know of was over the summer when we were on a trip in the mountains with a group and @MJonaGS32 lost his brakes and hit a widow maker tree on the side of a forest road at around 30mph. Bumper took the hit very well, buckled back enough to absorb some energy(and no visible frame damage), but overall deflected and took the hit well enough that the truck was still drivable out of the mountains(after we rigged the brake lines a bit). Maybe he has a couple pics he can post.

In a casual search so far, at least 3 companies aren't making front bumpers for the 1st gens. A little odd considering how many of them are out there. :(

Which ones? I know of the big companies are except Pelfrey but that's coming in the next few weeks :notsure:

All of the companies except maybe 4 of them have first gen bumpers

Pelfrey was one of them, but I did get an email this afternoon (while I was at work) some are coming soon. I think ARB was another. I was only looking at the websites and trying to look at the bumpers available for my year. The ones I looked at, it was only 2005 and above.

ARB definitely makes bumpers for 1st gen Tacomas. I doubt there's a Toyota 4x4 that ARB doesn't (or at least hasn't back when) make front bumpers to fit.

I have seen an Iron Man 4x4, on a 1st gen don't what year it was or if they are available anywhere. They also resemble the ARB bumper.

1st gens look the cleanest with armour.

Ironman and TJM are competitors to ARB down under. I've seen TJM bumpers on Tacomas but wasn't aware Ironman made any and even for Cruisers and Hilux you don't see many Ironmans here in the U.S. Cool.

Few years back TRDparts 4u had some Ironman products I think they had some bumpers as well. Found a picture of it looks somewhat different from the ARB.
