Anyone every swap out their rear bumper? I have to assume it's not that hard to swap them out, a couple of bolts probably? I'm looking to replace it with another stock one so no need for welding or anything like that.

Yeah just bolts holding it on. Would probably need a helping hand though

I just did it. I bought the “shell” only to switch from chrome to black, so once it was off, it’s just a bunch of bracket and plastic switching. Very easy, took about 2 hours, but now that I know how to do it, probably under an hour.

I'm looking to replace my chrome bumper with a color matched one (Barcelona Red), similar to the TRD sport... Did your shell come unpainted or black? Where did you get it at? Before / After pictures?

It came black, from eBay, it’s more flat than the gloss of the truck, but looks fine. Maybe better in my opinion. No pics right now but I can take some later, but it’s just black. I got something like this: https://m.ebay.com/itm/New-Rear-Step-Bumper-Face-Bar-Black-For-2005-2015-Tacoma-4-0L-Prerunner-2-7L/281633391070?fits=Model:Tacoma&hash=item4192a881de:g:M30AAOSwNSxVCVkn:sc:ShippingMethodStandard!30349!US!-1

Edit: It is definitely paintable, if that’s what you want to do. My truck is black so I just installed it as is.

Hey! I've been eyeing that bumper for a while, cause my chrome bumper is rusting through. Just got my truck back from a frame replacement and am ready to do it.

Looking at that eBay listing, I assume I will need to transfer all the plastic bits (steps, lights, etc) over to the new bumper?

Yes, all the plastic, as well as all the brackets inside the old one. It’s easy. I just set them side by side and started swapping parts over.

Awesome, thanks. I think I may need to crawl under and check the brackets, wouldn't be surprised if they were rusted as well.

Mine were rusted, but I had a boat that was backed into the water so I wasn’t surprised. It wasn’t too bad though.
