This is the plan actually. I'm really not against hanging the drywall myself, I am more than capable. I just wanted to avoid having to carry it to my basement haha.

IMG_0749.PNG.jpg Made settlement yesterday on a house in Phoenix. Place is in great shape but needs updates. First thing i did yesterday was replace the broken garage door opener on the double door. Here's my question.... I've got a free garage door opener with an 8' door sized rail. Mine are 7'. Can I use the 8' opener on the 3rd bay and just adjust the max up and down accordingly?

Why's that? I just had someone tape and mud the drywall I hung, so I'm genuinely curious to know how I may have made his life difficult.

Probably “hangers” aka....Screws not fully set. That’s my biggest complaint if I coated other people’s work. That’s why screw guns have depth settings;)

One of my last major carpentry jobs at this house is scribing and fitting a glulam bench that runs on the fireplace wall , same wall as the fir t&g cascade

The far right hand end is supported on a low cabinet but the left end waterfalls with a mitred end into the floor

Trying to get a decent mitre in a piece of wood that is 3 1/8" x 13 1/2" is a bit of a challenge and my only saw that will cut that thickness at a 45 degree bevel is my 16" Makita circular saw

Started with a 16' glulam , figured out where the waterfall would drop to the floor and added 2" so I can scribe the non waterfall end to the wall after I'm certain my mitre joint will work

I cross cut the piece square with my 10" Makita circular saw , then taped off the end , clamped on a fence square to the edge and cut a 45 on it with the 16" saw

Taped off the end of the off cut , clamped on a fence and cut that end with the 16" saw at 45

Dry fit looks pretty good , happy with the grain wrap

That was end of day , the water fall will get fit to the floor Monday and I'll connect the two pieces

Well my shed got broken into last night. Bit bummed but not too much was take. A chainsaw, table saw, auger, and water pump are all gone. I might have scared them off as the dog woke up at 130-2 and thought he had ot pee so i turned all the lights on and let him out. I do blame me for a bit of it though. I didnt secure the latches well enough looking back. I used the provided screws which barely went through the trim boards...and the trim boards were only held on with nails. Fixed that and ran carriage bolts through the new latches. They also seem to have taken my damn lock too as it was missing and the sheriff and I couldnt find it anywhere lol

Such a small kitchen for such a lovely place! Or im just spoiled by my kitchen >.>

Guys i work with who used to drywall charged 1.5-2 times as much to come and tape and mud a owner installed job vs other just cuse of crap they would run into.

No more taco life for me
time for a new garage door

i use my garage for storage mainly, occasional truck mods.

i'm leaning away from an insulated door. i need a 16x7, it is an attached garage. I don't have any desire/plans/hopes to make it a living space. So, is there any other reason to insulate the garage door? Seems I'd benefit more from putting more insulation in the attic and on the walls that are attached to the garage.

So I come to you to ask, am I overlooking anything or is there something I haven't taken into consideration? Your thoughts are appreciated.

If it’s unconditioned space....I see no reason to. If you plan on heating in the future, I would at least get a mid level insulated door. For wind noise if nothing else, insulated is preferred.
