Premium Audio Upgrade for less than $250

I do not believe they are unique between LH and RH.

 

I am new to this thread , but I'm just looking for a little Info/Expertise, without having to search many, many pages of info.

I have a 2015 DCSB that I drive 30 miles to work each day and the road Noise drove me nuts.
After some research on TW and elsewhere I did some some deading on the doors.
I added NOICO and then 10MM close cell foam to the doors.
It was then I noticed how crappy the speakers are. I have bigger magnets on my tool box.
I replaced the rear and front with SKAR audio speakers.
It made a big difference.
I Have not replaced the Tweeters.
Hence my question, what are TW audio plies replacing them with?
I"d liked to improve but I'd to keep the cost below $100 or even less if its something decent.
Any help, websites would be appreciated.

I don't believe the Subaru tweeters fit Gen 2 Tacomas.

 

youre right. Missed that he has a 2015. read it, but then didn't let it register that it was a gen 2. @JeffB make sure you don't buy these tweeters. they won't fit.

 

Just did this tonight. Tweeters plus all 4 doors. Definitely a huge improvement for not a lot of money. I did it in a couple hours not working very hard and also adding dynamat while I had the door panels off. I’ll agree with what others have said, if nothing else spend the 15 minutes and replace the tweeters, but once you do that, you’ll for sure do the rest. My rear door panels were a PITA to get off, but aside from that it was smooth sailing.

 

What was the problem with the rear doors? I'll be doing this soon hopefully so I'm just trying to get all info and tips I can

 

The rears pulled off much much harder than the fronts did. Just start at the bottom and pull hard, they’ll eventually give in and come off. I didn’t break anything so don’t be afraid to pull harder than you think you should. On the fronts the clips stayed stuck in the panels, on the rears most of them stayed stuck in the door and I had to remove them. I’m sure if I pulled them off now it wouldn’t be nearly as bad.

I’d definitely recommend a pry tool set. This is the one I got a while back and have been using for a while now.

I appreciate any and all advice I have gotten in this thread. I actually ordered the pry tool set from the OP, but it looks like it has a lot of the same tools from the one you got. So hopefully that works. I would definitely never attempt this job on a brand new truck without a tool set like that, that's for sure

 

The only thing I used the pry set for was to remove the trim piece where the door controls are. The rest of it just pulls off after you take the screws out.

 

I just used a wallpaper seam roller for the Noico. You can get one at any paint or hardware store.

 

Just use a pry tool to pop off the first couple clips that hold the panel on. If you lay on the ground under the door, you can see where the clips are

Great suggestion on the tweeter upgrade.

I did mine a few hours ago and have been cruising around and enjoying them.



I did disconnect the battery and proceeded with the install.


I took a 30oz cup of coffee outside with me and sipped my java during the process. Took my time and I think it took me about 15 mins to complete. Piece of cake.





Ordered these pry tools along with the speakers. I wouldn't attempt this without them.








Used this because I didn't have a 10mm flat wrench.











10mm socket.





I opted to NOT remove my weather stripping. A slight tug upwards is all it took to remove the A-pillar covers.

Great upgrade. When I get time & money, I'm going to do the other 4 speakers, too.

Hi guys I had a quick question, I'm doing this on the supper cheap and have been able to find all the door speakers for 70 bucks through different people on offer up. I have the metra connectors in my cart on Amazon, My question is Do I also need to buy the Metra Speaker adapters?

 

I haven't actually done it yet, but I do have most of my stuff to do it just need some time to get it done. But I would say yes you need those adapters

 

I wouldn’t wanna do the install without the adapters. Everything fits and lines up using the adapters

 

I did the tweeters last week (HUGE UPGRADE!) and today I went for the front doors.
I thought I was going to do the rear doors too BUT....
Here's a picture of the stock 6x9's and the replacement kickers...

Here's the bracket they sent me for the round 6 and 3/4 inch speakers.

I think these are the brackets you would need if you were putting rounds in the front doors.
I've emailed Crutchfield I'm sure they'll send me the right brackets but dangit, I was so close to finishing the speaker upgrade!!!
You can see, I put some Gorilla glue on my screws so they can't strip out.
