Know many here are concerned about rust- like me. 2004 TRD 3 years with me in MA. Originally from South Carolina - starting point- No rust at all. Thorough pressure wash under body in the spring and FF in the fall. Result at this point- F ing amazing. I wondered if the inherent suseptability to rust from the inside out could be prevented - after inspection and FF last night, I think it can. So my recommendation to all is FF in the fall. New England can be beat.

Nice! Was thinking about doing it to my 03. How do you make sure to get all the littles voids clean before application though?

Pics would not do it justice. IT is mint under there. NH oil undercoating is near me and I have spoken with them. They used to use FF now their own formula . It looks like FF to me just tinted black. They show the same spraying equipment that FF shows in their adds (kellsport) . Prior to spraying I just pressure wash the underbody with a 90 degree wand and the straight wand for inside the frame holes.

I do mine every fall and make sure I get lots inside the frame, that is where it rusts from. I have also loaded the inner frame with used engine oil so the metal is well soaked, no guarantees but so far all is good.

just sprayed my frame 2 weeks ago with used oil :)

might have to do another coat just to get some of the areas I missed or that ran off

FF keeps my throwout from squeaking for months on end in my 2nd gen - a pattern failure that has no good solutions besides yanking the transmission for only that reason. White lithium grease would only last a couple weeks. Stuff works great for a lot of applications.

I FF'd mine back in early summer after I got it back from my son. Before I sprayed it I painted everything with POR 15. Turned out great and I plan on applying another coat of Fluid Film here shortly because of the salt spreading brine spraying madness that ODOT takes on every year. They were laying brine on the roads the other day when it was 38 degrees and rain was on its way in. Unbelievable!

Anyway my question is to those that have used Fluid Film for years is how you take care of the frame during the salt season. Do you spray out with garden hose pressure after every salt event I as I am used to doing or leave it be and let FF protect? I just wonder if too much hosing out will wash the protection away. I use the hose pressure, not pressure washer pressure.

What works best from your experience?

I live in the south and have a rust free frame. I also wash the mud off my under carriage fairly regularly which has started to cause surface rust recently. I am not sure I need to take the precautions you salt people have to but I am seriously thinking I want to do something. That brings me to this... Does the FF dry or does it stay at all tacky? I can't have anything that stays tacky in any way as I ride gravel roads on the regular and that dust will build up something awful. I am about to start my 4X4 swap and that would be a good time to cover this frame in what ever it is i'm going to cover it in. Maybe just paint? Undercoating? Fluid Film? What do you guys think? I plan on keeping my truck until they pry it from my cold dead hands so this is pretty important.

    yep..
My plan is to not touch the underside through the winter. I don't want to pressure wash under there and remove the FF, giving the next round of salt/water less of a barrier between the steel. I will give it a thorough cleaning in the spring followed by another coat of FF

I plan on doing mine every year from now on, even if the cost goes up a little I will still have @BadDNA do it. Mine is not wet anymore it dried to a nice film

I used fluid film for the first time last month. I used the spray cans, which are very convenient, but went through almost 5 cans to coat everything. Very happy with the results so far. Been through a few heavy rains and still looks like I just sprayed it on. Next year I will buy the gallon and sprayer. A lot more cost effective.

FF or LPS 3 rock. It works much better if you do it when it is warm to hot outside as it'll flow much better instead of congealing as soon as it hit cold metal. I also do inside all the door when hot making sure it flows into the seams where 90% of rust initially starts.

I've done mine for the past two years and it still looks good. I plan to keep hitting it annually for as long as I own the truck. It collects some road grime, but it doesn't stick around long, rinses off on its own eventually.

Got my truck in Nov, once it started snowing I washed it almost every week. This year FF by @BadDNA and I won't wash the underside until we get those spring rains that clean the roads. Next year I may try to get 2 coats on it. I was concerned with the smell, but it really wasn't that bad.

Yeah, I don't know why some people are so offended by it.
