I just replaced my body mount bushings with red energy suspension parts. I was ready to go for a short drive and enjoy the cushy new mounts when i saw my check engine light on. WTF!!! i gotta take it to get the code checked now. Any guesses before i go?

While I sit lonely in my basement attempting to fill in a hole in my heart with intervention-worthy levels of OCD, nitpicking other people's posts who are too busy living real lives in the real world. You win this time Jon lol :typing:

I'm going with p0420 - my truck likes throwing that one for some reason. :rasta: J/k I'm too old for that - my truck's in that state of mind where all it thinks about sensory stimulation and is not always influenced by proper role models. Then again I should maybe learn to lighten up lol. Pass it this way Bean!

But if you don't want to have to go to the parts store next time, you can buy several levels of code readers from a basic $13 Amazon cheapy that has gotten me by for the last 2 years or something that can show real time data on your phone with a number of apps recommended by @mechanicjon:

Not very hard if those bolts holding the body mount plates to the frame come out. If you snap one your not in for a good time as the nut is welded to the frame.

Can you imagine! Of course this can't be true because Sears killed it off (the good ones at least)

For those who have rebuilt steering racks, is this normal? Is it a rack guide issue?

No, it's almost purely rotational. And just on the driver's side.

Happy to report back, in a light rain over about 30 minutes of testing, the bosch icons performed well. Temperature was about 60

Well I celebrated too early but I think I learned something. Think my alternator has a failing set of diodes, should be an easy fix tho.

That's odd I would think the only thing that could cause that is excessive wear on the actual rack and pinion gears and teeth.
