Well I took my first professional class today. I’m a monthly , sometimes weekly shooter. I’d like to say that I am proficient with dry fire practice from position 1 to 3. But today I learned I have a lot of bad habits, and I really learned a bunch.

We only had 4 hours but it was very helpful. It was mainly the basics. Shooting while moving, grip, strong/weak hand shooting, reloads, tactical reloads etc .

I was the only one there with a rmr on my pistol though, the instructor pretty much said that he doesn’t like them for ccw , said I would get trashed in court.

Though I don’t completely agree, he does have many upon many years of experience as a Leo.

All in all I think I got my money’s worth, it made me a much better shooter, and hopefully Ill start to continue those good habits I was taught.

Exactly, on top of that your better off not having to engage someone with deadly force unless absolutely necessary. Even if your cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in the legal system the person you shot or thier family (if that person died from being shot) can turn around and sue you for damages, dragging you through the court system and causing you to spend vast sums on lawyers for defense.

    Lifted, Armored, needs more lights.
Don't forget lights on guns also show the whole world where exactly you are too. Plus there are legal ramifications on just property protection as noted by several later in thread.

I would just put a motion sensor light covering said shed and resolve everything maybe a tab bit more easily.

    Your instructor is an idiot.

I don't prefer RMRs on a ccw for a variety of reasons - court is definitely not a valid one. It is either a justified shoot or not - how you aimed your weapon is immaterial.

Never heard of them but I had a short PSA 9mm upper and their mag block that worked well.
Probably be right in your budge and cheap to shoot if you went with one of theirs in a lenght of your choice.

CZ Scorpion would be another great choice with a pistol brace.

Scorpions are sweet. I wanna do something with this lower i have sitting around though. I'm looking at an upper in 6.5 grendel, a couple 9mm uppers and a can cannon.

I need to call about a couple of the 9mm uppers because i cant find a mag block specifically for them so i dont know which one id need.

The karri's guns one looks promising but reviews are less than stellar. I cant find any newer than 2014 so idk if theyve improved or not though.

Yea...a meth head stealing your lawnmower from an outbuilding is not imminent danger to yourself or others. You won't win with a stand your ground/castle doctrine defense. Enjoy your time in prison.

Your instructor is spreading nothing but rumors by saying a RMR would be used against you in court. Also remember the people saying using a non-stock trigger or using reloads would be used against you too? I always tell those people to point me to an actual court case where any of those were used against someone.

Other than a court case where those were more just thrown on after the fact and the guy was already in trouble for other things. Ive never seen a case in a "good shoot" that the gun was even brought up.

I love the internet sometimes. I say im buying a light to put on a rifle and suddenly its been turned into i plan to shoot someone for breaking in my shed.

Im still trying to read where i said anything about shooting someone breaking into my shed. Go ahead, keep bolding my own post and tell me where i said anything about that and NOT just about having something i could use outdoors in the event i needed to be outside for some reason.

You have the right to investigate disturbances on your property. You have the right to be armed when you do such. You have the right to defend yourself against actions, or imminent actions, that will cause serious bodily harm or death.

You do not have the right to shoot people who do not represent a threat of serious bodily harm over property (in most states).

No castle doctrine = need to be able to articulate how the person was a deadly threat. Caste doctrine = the act of being in your home constitutes the threat.

If you don't understand the difference between bringing the best possible tool for the potential deadly force encounter and strolling out the backdoor intending on ventilating whatever the source of the noise you find is, I don't know what to tell you.

I realize now that I may have interpreted it differently than was intended. Given the context, my mind took the whole handgun is okay for house, rifle is needed for outside as needing something more accurate to take shots from a window or something if they ever came back. I apologise.

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
Agreed, I took that as him recognizing where his current home defense plan may have some holes if the situation presented itself again and it escalated to a shooting situation. I'm sure most of us agree that we hope it never comes to that but if it does you better believe I would want the most effective and superior weapon possible, if you enter a shooting fight with it being "fair" then you failed to prepare.

depends on the state you live in also...it also applies to your vehicle.

exactly!Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Well one thing I need to do is under cut my glock, because this glock knuckle sucks.

Should I do it myself ? Or have someone do it, then stipple ... what are your guys thoughts ?

An undercut isn’t hard with the right tools. A 5/8 ball end mill will make an undercut in less than a minute.

I was thinking about just using my dremel.

But I’m thinkkng about having the finger grooves removed . So I might just have it stippled
