so here's an idea... someone needs to take their truck to dieseltoys and get the 1kd-ftv swapped in. They do both autos and manuals.

If you type "Shift Sense Pro" into Google the 3rd and 4th result down take you to the website. The 5th and 6th results are videos of installation and how to use it.

I keep the truck for long enough and I'm doing just that.

I would love to see that happen. Ya it's a lot of money but it's still cheaper than buying a new vehicle in today's market. Plus that would make the tacoma so much better than all of the half ton trucks in my eyes.

Dude you post seems to indicate they made some kinds of important changes from 16 to 17.
As far as I can see, I cant find any changes that would affect any of the issues we are talking about.

I think he was talking about getting past the bugs of the first year of production, not any real improvements or changes.

Could be that you are right I just was not aware there was anything really discovered that we got rectified or improved upon for the nude model year. I almost wish there were it would explain some of the issues but I don't think there are and I think that the two model years share all of the same problems

While that may be true (I don't know), I don't think the 2GR-FKS is actually an Atkinson Cycle engine. As I understand, it has variable valve timing that makes it emulate an Atkinson Cycle engine. But then I could be talking out my buttocks.

    Agree.
I love my manual tranny with this motor. Sure it could use more power...but ive said that about all my vehicles...including sports cars.
Its a truck and drives like a truck. Even with my 285s im happy. Daily driven too.

Au contraire. You'd be like the badass deadbeat dad with the leather jacket, smoking cigarettes off to the side of the main group of dads. All the preppy RL soccer dads would be gathered around with their Stanford and Harvard sweaters tied over their shoulders, whispering about what a lowlife dirtbag you were.

But they'd all secretly be thinking how cool you are and how much they would give anything to be you; to be free of this lifeless, plastic suburban prison. One of them would look over furtively at your blacked out, lifted, armored TRD OR and you'd tap the cherry off your cigarette and give him a wink before you turned and strolled away.

Or some shit like that. I get carried away.

Seems all they do is complain about the power plant and Grille over at Ridgeline World as well. A lot of folk here, would fit in fine over there. Just sayin’.......no offence. Difference is, Ridgeline actually is a POS apparently.

maybe not significant changes but just better quality control, software changes, different gasket composites. Anyone who owned an '01-'03 bmw can tell you those make all the difference
