    If you don't need a laptop, keep in mind you can generally build a desktop that is twice as strong for the same price. Most shit these days is plug and play so it's not too difficult to setup yourself. Plus, it can be used for streaming, movies, TV, ect..... just a thought :notsure:

    Did you not read the part where I said I hate apple products? I'm saying dollar for dollar, the Mac puts out better processing for video editing and high intensity photo editing.

    It's not the same hardware. It runs smoother. I've owned both macs and PCs. When it comes to video processing macs run it significantly faster and better. My PC cost more than my Mac with better parts and still didn't render it as smoothly.

    Computers = hardware + software

    If: mac hardware = pc hardware;
    Then: mac software > pc software;

    Elseif: user sucks balls;
    Then: mac = pc

    End;

    :notsure:

    Side note: I've never owned a mac, but idgaf what label is on the shell, if it's user friendly and runs solidworks, I'm happy! :p

    Yeah, building your own computer is the best in my humble opinion!!! :thumbsup::fistbump:

    A pretty powerful computer can be built and last for quite some time and the best part is if you are into gaming, you can typically upgrade only areas that need it and still be pretty powerful at that!!!

    Back around the late 80's to early 90's was when PC building started taking hold and dying off around the early 2000's. But, I've noticed a trend with PC building becoming a fad again due to the latest gaming technology and graphics!!!

    I like how I can easily upgrade, even now, my old PC just by getting the processor or vid card, power supply unit, etc.

    It comes down to preference really, but, again, in my experiences, it depends on what you're going to be using it for?

    Talking about engineering, even some of the high-end analyzers and O'scopes have Windows as embedded OS's in them. I mean, I've been in that industry well over 14yrs now so I know what is used in the labs.

    My high end O-scope still takes a floppy to pull data off! Gets calibrated every 3 months and is still the best in my building! :D

    Pretty sure it's DOS based too...

    WOWWWW!!! LOL!!! I used a Tektronix MSO2014 that had USB for a thumb drive for the data dump/image capture port.

    I forget what year, but Apple/MAC used their own proprietary processor RISC chips up until maybe 10yrs ago. I remember it being big news when they decided to start putting Intel chips in them, which were predominantly CISC processors. I don't know if Intel is making "custom RISC processors" for Apple/MAC??? But, MOST DEFINITELY, different animals in their own right!!!

    Either way, @itaro is right, the processors are pretty damn powerful for either platform really. I'm just simply pointing out what mainly gets used where. The lead tech where I work now is using a schematic capture program on a PC. Again, I've seen over 90% PC based computers being used for this type of work.

    G....D.....
    I knew I forgot something!

    All I know is, the least amount of bullshit you have on your computer the better. One pc/mac for downloading movies/porn and one for real life shit. Don't connect to the Internet and it'll last forever! :laugh:

    Thanks Danny!!! :thumbsup::fistbump::cheers:

    Just this past week was my 2nd week. :bananadance:

    They like me so far and by my 3rd day, I already jumped in and starting repairing whatever boards/equipment that needed to get done. My supervisor of that dept was very happy as well that I jumped in so quick.

    I'm a little rusty with an O'scopes, but it's coming back to me pretty fast. :thumbsup:

    LMAO!!! It WAS for a warehouse gig!!! I started the new job that very next week as I was in "transition" when I had talked to you about my knees.

    Btw, both of my knees are still bruised a little, but those insoles were nigh/day difference. :thumbsup::bowdown: That's how much knee pain I was enduring wearing those shoes until it got to the point of me practically in tears just to get up.

    But yeah, thanks Johnston!!! :bowdown::thumbsup::fistbump:
