2010 LB Tacoma + Black Widow Ramp + 08 Yamaha R6 + My 225lb weight = OK for tailgate?

Hi there,

I just received my Black Widow ramp earlier this week and will attempt for the first time ever loading my 08 Yamaha R6 on the bed of my first truck. I got this ramp here:

I also have this Ramp Rite Hitch Ramp Support:



So essentially the ramp will be sitting and strapped to the ramp holder. But my main concern is when I'm riding it up (which is what I would like to do) will my weight (225lbs) plus my R6 bike weight (450-475lbs - Guessing) be ok to roll over the tailgate without damage? I also got the Baxley wheel chock, so when the bike is loaded on the bed for better support:

 

It should be fine I've put near or exceeded that on mine. Most of the force would be riding up... but you got that covered with the hitch holder.... I wouldn't really worry about it. If it does, warranty it.

 

I have the shorter version of that ramp from the same company and I have loaded my bikes half a dozen times with no problems.

 

Cool, thanks for the replies. I was worried with my added weight if the tailgate couldnt stand it. I ordered the BW ramp because I like the idea of being able to ride it up since I will be loading the bike myself 99% of time. Any pointers for tomorrow since this will be my frist time doing it. I know its probably straight forward. Im also adding the extra D rings on the bed itself too.

you shouldn't worry about it, I've drove my 600lbs 4 wheeler up mine and all the weight was on the tailgate and nothing happened at all!

 

your ramp looks like it really fircken wide so the load distribution is good, i think. and as far as tips on loading it, dont look down, cause that is where you will go. dont get scared,cause then you will start looking for a way out, reverting to dont look down. and dont stop, reverting to dont get scared and dont look down. i guess you see how it all starts to ball up. man up and just do it.

 

Everything went smoothy besides my battery on my bike dying out everytime. The tailgate did have some crunching sound with some flex. I'm assuming that's normal. It still closes fine and has no damage on it. Ramp is awesome and made it feel really secured while going up and down.

Yeah, that's the whole plan for this setup. I plan on hitting the track as much as I can this year. I've only gone twice ever but would like to go regularly now that I have a new Tacoma and ramps and all.

Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera outside. It was about to rain, so I wrapped everything up and went back inside. I wish I took some though. I will next time.

 

Those are pretty awesome.

 

You could always take your tailgate off, unless you got a short bed. I like whippersnapper02 have a 700cc quad that weighs around 500lbs plus I weigh 190 and I ride mine up on the tail gate with no problems. Mine doesn't have to sit on the tailgate though because I have a longbed and I can close the tailgate with my quad in the back!
