I just put on nitto ridge grappler 33"s now the ass end shakes like a fifth St. Hooker!! Please help. I have a leveling kit upfront, that's it. I ran 31" G2'S from nitto for 70,000 miles. Zero trouble. I understand Carrier bearing, drive shaft geometry, shims, ect. Anyone fixed this yet?

Sounds like a tire issue, I’d have them re balanced. Your rear end geometry doesn’t change with bigger tires

Correct, it s an 05, and it still has the original Bilstein 5100 series shocks.

I'd go back to where you bought the tires and ask to have them rebalanced. Or try rotating the back to the front and see if it starts shaking up front.
You might have a tire that's not round

Tires would be my first guess also.

But...My curiosity is getting to me too.
    A 31" G2 weighs 40.6lbs and a 33-12.5-17 RG weighs in at 69.2lbs.
Thats almost double the previous setup.
If the carrier bearing was worn out and sagging before the new tires, would the added weight cause a sort of torque issue, causing the driveshaft to wobble in the carrier??
This is not meant to freak you out, OP, I'm just thinking outside the box.
And asking a legitimate question to others, also..

Edit: Cold mornings will make my truck shake pretty bad around 35-55 for a few miles till the tires get warmed...

Those sound like some intense hookers!
Definitely sounds like a balance issue. Did you also change wheels? Never mind, I see you already answered that.

Yeah doubling the weight of the tire wasn't something I thought about. How difficult is it the change out the carrier bearing?

Willing to bet the tires aren't balance correctly. Try a place that can road force balance them.

Its pretty involved. I did mine and replaced all the ujoints at the same time.
You'll have to drop the driveshaft and separate the front and rear shafts. Remove the mid ujoint, then there's a retaining nut that hold the rear yoke onto the rear shaft. After you get the rear yoke removed, you can get a 2-3 jaw puller and pull the carrier bearing off the rear shaft.
It took half the day for me with a few breaks.

My money says the tires are balanced fine. The tire tech probably over tightened the first lug nut or two, and the wheel didn't center properly on the hub. This happens to me all the time when I let a shop do anything to my wheels.

Go back and tell them what you're experiencing. Ask them nicely to loosen the lugs and retorque them. It will be fine. These trucks are very sensitive to this, especially with heavy tires. Mine are 60 pounds each - just the tires.

Definitely start with your tires tho. Like toyodajeff said, try a rotation and see if the issue moves. A rotation is cheap. ;)

I'm having a "wobble" issue after putting on new rims. Shop has re-balanced them twice. Nothing else has changed on the truck, same tires. I read your post and think that might be my problem. Going to pull them myself and re-install. Thanks.

Did you make sure your new wheels were hub centric?

After every visit to the shop, I have the wobble. I go home and loosen the lugs slightly. I torque them to 30 pounds then roll the truck at least half a tire revolution. Then I torque to 60 and roll back to point A. Then I do my final torque. Somtimes I bite the bullet and pull out my floor jack and do all of this without moving the truck.

Thank God! I feel so much better now. I live on a military base and can just take it over the the Auto Care Center and put it on a lift myself and take care of everything. From what you say, sounds like I don't even need the lift, just a gun with a torque setting.

    Thanks again for the advice!

    IGNORANCE ALERT IGNORANCE ALERT

I have no idea what that even means? I'm a fairly new owner and this is the first modification, if you want to call it that, I've ever done to the truck.

    Educate me brothers and sisters!!!
