Do you really need an alarm? Other than what came on the truck. Those alarms with sound is just something to annoy the neighbors. No one ever pays attention to them.

What about lo-jack? Anyone use that?

I have had Vipers in all the family venicles for many many years. Never an issue. Can't recall the model I have in my Tacoma but it is not the fancy version with the 2 way remote. It has twice stopped vandalism while sitting in front of our house.

the only thing that came on my truck is the keyless entry. as far as need, it more of a want thing. i think it is more of a peace of mind thing.

Just wasn't sure why you need one. I once lived in an apartment complex where cars with alarms & cars without were getting stolen. The alarms didn't deter the thieves. If they want it they get it.

I did have a friend that had both an alarm & lo-jack. the alarm was supposed to be a kill alarm, but the thieves worked around that. He did get his car returned a couple of days later with lo-jack.

I'm sure your later model truck is probably different than mine, but this worked on my '03. Not sure, but if you do some hunting around, you might be able to find this mod for your '06. Nice thing is it was free, the only bad thing is, it doesn't have the sensor for the windows, but it will still go off when you open up any door. Plus, if or when the alarm does go off, your starter will disengage, & the truck will not start. I added a red LED light to the system, & have it mounted near the cup holders & blinks when it's on.....

My best friend had a Clifford alarm system on his Integra and while we were at school, someone cut the wiring to the alarm and broke his window. They laid under the car and somehow unlatched the hood. So they could cut the wire. Stole about $500 in audio.
