So I ordered up a set of ProComp 1069's last Sunday for my stock '02 which arrived today, and I went this afternoon to get them mounted up only find out they don't fit.:frusty: Nothing like killing the excitement of getting new wheels only to find out they don't fit, but it will be ok.

The tire shop said the center bore in wheel is not deep enough. I almost feel like going to another tire shop to get second opinion.

These are the specs on the wheels.

    -16x8
    -Hub Centric
    -Backspace-4.0
    -Bolt Cicle: 6x5.5
    -Offset: 11mm
    -Tire size- 265/70/r16

The part number for the ProComps that I ordered is: 1069-6838, here is the link to where I ordered them from: http://www.pssautomotive.com/Pro-Comp-Alloy-Polished-Wheel-Series-1069-p-16949.html

I double checked on the boxes to make sure they were the right part number for one's that I ordered and they are, part # 1069-6838.

Did I make the mistake of ordering them in hub centric? It was my understanding that the stock wheels are hub centric, so that is why I ordered them that way. I guess that I obviously should have ordered lug centric instead (part number 1069-6883) and that is the problem? I've seen several of these wheels on 1st gen. trucks and don't understand what's going on. Did these guys not know what they were talking about and I should go to another tire shop?

    Thoughts?

The truck the wheels would/will be going on.

I've always heard that on the first gen.'s you would want to get lug centric wheels for this very reason. I believe that your truck has factory lug centric wheels unlike the 2nd gens wich are hub centric.

Alright, gotcha. I'll mail these back and order up the lug centric ones (1069-6883) then.

Thanks man! Just bought it a month ago, always wanted one these trucks.

Very sharp looking truck! Yep you want a Lug-centric wheel. I just got my proComp 8069 wheels on a couple weeks ago.
I really like your color truck with black wheels, But Polished will look sharp too!

    Thanks,

I appreciate the confirmation. That obviously is the problem then. Kind of a pain to have to mail them back, but it'll work out fine.:)

To be honest, I've gone back and forth atleaste a hundred times between the Procomp 1069's and the 8069's that are black. Maybe I should take this opportunity to order the black ones instead... we'll see.

It will def. have a more aggressive offroad look with black. And look very sharp as well.
It will match your fender flares also. Here's a photo for ya.... But If you like the polished wheel better thats cool too, dont let me change your mind! :)

Would I be able to use hub centric rings to get around this problem with these wheels or any type of adapter?

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
On the PC wheels the order # last 3 digit has to be 883..so yes you got the wrong ones.

Well just a little update. I got a hold of the company I ordered them from and they're going to let me exchange them for the correct one's. I mailed the wheels out last Wednesday and they should get them back Tuesday next week and then they'll ship out the correct ones.

I decided that I'm still going to go with the polished one's, I've decided on the look vs. the black.

Thanks again for your help and clarification guys, it helped.

They recieved the wheels last Tuesday morning via the tracking #'s for both box's, so I contacted them Wednesday to ask when the wheels that I'm exchanging them for will be shipped out. They told me that 'it can take a few days before they are checked in by the returns deptartment' and that they would be in touch with me once they were. Haven't heard anything since then, so I'll contact them again on Monday to see if they've been checked in.
