    Modifying an already modified design.

I suspect I have gone so small on the pulley that there is not enough belt wrap allowed to allow full traction on the pulley, which in turn is allowing slippage due to such a smooth surface on the blower pulley.

Either today or in the following days I will be removing my qwickchange 2.5 pulley and be RIP cutting it to ensure belt slip is negated. This should allow more consistent boost and an increase in normally seen peak boost as a whole.

    I appreciate the input!!!

I'm not looking to create a monster, but I'd like to see around 320 rwhp down in Phx at 1500' and 50 degrees and maybe around 8.5 lbs of boost tops. I'm planning on driving this truck another 3-4 years and 250,000 miles and I'd think with most of that at my home elevation of 6500' I'd be dropping down to 6.5lbs of boost most of the time with the 2.6 pulley and giving up 30-40hp up here, which I'd live with to not have issues over the long haul. Heck, a 2.7 pulley may be the ticket for me to stay on the safe side.

My biggest concern is knowing when you've trimmed the snout enough without trimming too much when you really can't tell by forcing it on????

I went ahead and did the RIP mod to my pulley today, along with a few more tweaks and mods to the blower, boost has picked up, as has overall vacuum. Everything is much more stable and consistent during operation and I am a MUCH happier camper now. :)

Like I told you, there is a gray line which comes out at the blower snout. The rest is all black. Once you have cut off up to where the gray begins you stop.

Don't keep us in suspense Bro! What were the additional blower tweaks and mods? (Regardless of how inconsequential)......

I replaced the mal-fitting factory hose from the Supercharger bypass valve to the blower which was causing leaks under boost (check yours... all of you! And clamp it or replace it with a smaller hose if necessary). I also removed a vacuum restrictor orfice jet/ valve at the bypass valve. Between all these mods I gained a consistent 1.5-2 psi. (I used to hit 7.5-8.5 psi inconsistently, it was all over the place) I am now consistently hitting my 10 PSI that I should had been in the first place, and peaking at 11 psi.

Oh and "turbo lag" which then kicks up violently at 3000 rpm is mostly gone now also. The blower works like the blower should now. Power everywhere. Vacuum at idle and at hard decel picked up also.

Good info. Any pics of the items mentioned you worked over besides the pulley? Curious how you accomplished that one? And I'm guessing a 2.6 pulley may not have the belt slip you had with your 2.5 using the same belt?
What have you done for tuning?

@snowsk8air2 I think you should consider having a looksee around your blower. I mean... i did find no innercooler coolant in the thing at how many miles? :D

Nothing special. I replaced the hose with a smaller ID hose and before I did that I removed the restrictor jet with some pliers. No real pics, but I can show you what the stuff looks like and where it goes.

I am not sure slippage was a factor as much as vacuum restriction was from the jet and vacuum leaks from the hose. The RIP mod was more an insurance policy to ensure belt slippage would not be a factor more than anything now and in the future if the belt stretches. It turns out I didn't have belt slippage, it was more vacuum inconsistencies, which were remedied.

Just going to get a boost gauge on today and verify what boost I have at altitude here (6500') then check when I'm in Phx next.

I'd like to get to see some pics of what you are talking about so I can check my items, and/or a little more description as to the location of hose, restrictor jet, etc...thx.

Easy and free mods ^^^ what he said. The TRD Supercharger thread has more in depth info about the restrictor jet mod. Or you can search my name and all the postings I have recently made in that thread.

Well a little bummed today. Wrong boost gauge arrived. On the other hand, I've discovered my aeroforce gauges have the sensor and everything in place, just not sure it's actually wired up? And then there's the complicated matter of programming it.

If the gauge that showed up was the phantom instead of the ultralight I'd have it hooked up and know just how much boost I'm making up here and which pulley to order....dang it.

Went ahead and installed the ultralight boost gauge. It showed 6.5lbs boost max, but failed to show any vacume. Got the phantom gauge and swapped it in. It shows only 5lbs, which at this altitude and my mods seems to make sense, but registers no vacume as well. Is this an issue that could be caused by a kinked or tweaked tubing, or what else might I check to solve this?

Also, quickchange pulley ordered as well as new 320 pump, pulley install tool and snout trimmer. The one key thing that makes me a little nervous is the trimming of the snout. Too much and the hub will never seat, too little and it'll be a fight get it on. I'm Wondering if our resident quickchange pulley specialist TRD12 could provide some additional info on the trimming procedure he used (number of turns, etc...) and how to correctly determine it's been trimmed enough, but not to much??? Pics or anything along that line would be great? I know he's already given me some tips, but any additional input on this particular phase would be GREATLY appreciated. It's making me NERVOUS... Thanks!!!

Just ordered snout trimmer too. Hoping instructions are good cause there's not too much info out there on the procedure.

Don't over think this one gents.

On the side of your snout there is a gray line which comes out of it. You trim until you hit the very beginning of that line. I'll see if I could snap a picture of that.
