pinion bearings are a thing....behind the leaking seal....

 

The wheel seal has been leaking and I filled not to long ago

 

you wanna mess with axle bearing ? i made a tool several years ago for pulling axle bearing with a press, just replacing the seal is pointless, as its the bearing causing the problem ( i've been thru this a few times )

Really don’t know yet I want to make it into a taco runner love the look

 

knowing now you are 8" diff i know my tool will work for sure, unclear if the 8.4 on the 1st gen Tacos use same bolt pattern ( i think they do, just haven't done one yet to know 100%)

it'll take a couple hours but its not a terrible job. best left for a Saturday though get your bearing(s) and seals ( inner and outer) and we'll make a plan.

Ok I have a question. Should I go with 4:88 gears don’t know what I have now

 

are you V6 ? and what size tire do you wish to end up with ? (over all height of tire ) 4.88 is pretty low for any real road use, i think @NastyNate is in that realm and his road speeds suffer as a result

4.56 would be the lowest i'd go if you wish to maintain road worthy drivability. being E-Locked, i believe they are 4.10 possibility of 4.30

my 3rd gen 4Runner is geared 4.10 and i'm outta gear at 72mph with 245/75-16s and a 5spd taching 3000rpm 285's will be the future

 

Yes v6, I would like 35’s in one point in time. I can be doing 70mph tacking 2100rpm I feel like lost of power

 

what size tire you running now ?

 

send me a picture of the sticker inside the door frame of the truck, that will have axle ratio code and other info about the truck ( can decode vin number as well)

thats not quite a 33" tire, where stock should have been 265/70r16 which is right near a 31" you'll feel the tire size but it shouldn't be terrible,

From frame code you should have 4.10 gear with the locking diff

 

225/75/15 is my favorite tire
