What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Thats a homemade axle bearing tool. Cut an old 4runner axle housing off. And welded the channel iron to it for the press.

 

With the 4 bolts out ya it should seperate.
I'm chasing a similiar vibration myself.

 

Grease the joints one at a time.
Sometimes when you grease a bad U-joint the vibration will disappear for a while.
So grease them one at a time and go for a ride, if it stops then it will most likely be the one you last greased.

 

Bump it with a hammer or pry it off with a screwdriver

 

Pull it to one side. It will pop off.

 

Gotta pry it off, I used the air hammer on one of mine it was so stuck. Also if you pulled the slip joint apart you better have indexed it so you can put it back correctly otherwise you'll have more vibes than ever.

 

Like everyone else said, You just gotta hit it. Literally just did this a couple hours ago, but on a dodge.
Replaced the same ujoint you’re dealing with last Monday on my truck. (It was messed up)

Ultragauge for you on your '96. The only time a scangauge is preferred, is on autos on '01 thru '04 Tacomas as it can be programmed to read the trans fluid temps on those models.

Theres like little c clips that you press onto the joint when you have it all in, you can see on the top vertical part of the joint. Just get a flat head screw driver and tap it.

 

That was a really messed up post. I fixed it so maybe it makes more sense. Apparently I can’t multitask.

The worst part is getting the old joint out... but you’ll have that with these trucks as I’m sure you know.

The clips on the rear u-joint are on the inside not the outside.

I plugged in diagnosis tool and I got a P0031. I don't know if I stretched it and damaged it while jacking the body up off the frame. I ordered the upstream sensor on Amazon, ill replace it and cross my fingers
