I just purchased a new 2017 Sport! I’m looking into upgrading my low beams. After reading about this “bounce” from the morrimoto Brand, is there a brand that has been used without this issue? I’d hate to turn to LED bulbs for this reason

Before purchasing a set of HID Kit from TRS I emailed them about it and asked if the shake bounce kit was resolved.
This is what they told me "
Thank you for the email! The 2016+ Tacoma HID kit is a great option for upgrading those old school halogen bulbs! The factory projector mounts on the Tacoma's are, in some cases, loose. Since the halogen bulbs aren't too bright, you can't really see the bounce/shake all that well. When you install the Elite HID Kit, it makes the beam pattern much brighter, thus being able to see the bounce.

If you grab the back of your factory projector, and you can rock it back and forth (gently), or feel play in the mounts than you will experience the shaking. If you cannot feel any play, you should be good to go!

It's nothing that Morimoto can fix, it's a Toyota headlight issue, I am sure you could put something in the headlight to help support the factory projector, but I have not personally seen anything that could work yet."

I went with the 35W 4500K. Other than that I like the output. Hoping that the bounce shake situation does not get any worse.

I would say 99% of the time the default 0 position is good for most installs which should get the LED diodes to the 3 and 9 o'clock position after the bulbs are locked in. If for whatever reason when you lock the LED bulbs in your headlight and they don't end up in this position then you can adjust as needed.

With a halogen H11 and H11B bulb, the only difference is the way the bulbs connect to the OEM factory harness. All of our H8, H9, H11 and H16 HID Bulbs are the same with the return wire being on the opposite side of the bigger tab. The Philips bulbs do have a 90-Degree base just like the halogen ones but our XenonDepot bulbs do not.

I just installed XenonDepot's LED kit they have for the 3rd generation Tacoma. Works excellent!
If you want to stick with HID, I purchased the below from XenonDepot for my wife's 2015 Highlander (which has same projector as the Tacoma), and they also work great and have no bounce. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the great feedback and glad to hear you're not experiencing any bounce effects on either vehicle!

@iC0NFLICT I have the TRS kit with 50W ballasts and 6500k bulbs. I have logged about 30,000 miles on the setup and have not experience any shake in the bulb. Plenty of back roads and plenty of night driving. No issues. I did install the higher density Tacoma bulb seals that they offer in the kit now. Very satisfied.

So it might be the bulbs we're made in different batches and some are more loose?

    ****updates****

The extra washers I made helped about 35-40% of less shake and bounce, but is still noticeable in the middle of the beam. Seems like the rod on the bulb shakes from vibration.

Overall it doesn't shake crazy like previous but is manageable...... For now...

Possibly causes. Bad batch from manufacturer side...

Hid give an amazing light output. The led look great and all, but on road the output is so weak compared to HID. Would prefer my safety on the road then looks..

If it's a headlight issue then you will most likely experience the shake with the LED bulbs as well. It may not be as noticeable since the lights are less brighter.

Either way keep us posted :)

I see your point but after reviewing. I believe the shake is from the rod and the sleeve on the hid from vibration. I can see the shadow when it shakes both mounted on the truck and off to how and why it shakes

It feels like if you tap on a 10 foot metal pole the vibration travels across

This is the same impression I have with regards to the shake.
Thinking I might try led at some point too, the microv leds look interesting. What did you go with?
