The new ones even have a line right down the center of the screen to show you where the hitch ball will line up, and it moves depending on how you turn the wheel to show you where you'll go. Makes hooking up the boat a breeze.

 

My wife's 2016 has that and I've ridden in a co-worker's new F150 and saw it as well. For now, I'll just do it the old fashioned way, guess and check.

I have all of the old westerns TV schedule pretty much memorized. Marshal Dillion aka Gunsmoke will be on after lunch. The Rifleman is on the weekend on AMC... Wyatt Earp, etc. just something to spend the day. Sure beats watching people through chairs around talking about their uncle brothers!

 

Why? That's so entertaining!

 

Wife's family is from the mountains near Wilkes-Barre PA. Those shows hit too close to home...

 

Can always pull the tailgate, too. Usually just as fast.

 

That's what I do. Found that I can guesstimate the distance left to get the ball under the receiver. Go slowly in reverse with my driver side door open using a reference mark on the ground to move the right amount. Can normally get it in one or two shots (unless someone is watching, then it takes about 10 attempts).

 

No camera on your or @Pugga 's truck?

I can't see the ball though, even with the tailgate gone. I can get close enough with just the side mirrors and the back up sensors. Use the side mirrors to get centered and when it starts beeping fast, I'm usually right where I need to be.

Nope, just the back up sensors.

 

@Pugga, the easiest solution at this point is to use the magnetic tennis balls on poles. One on the hitch, one at the ball, line them up gets you really close.

 

Wow, my '09 has a camera and I use it all the time! I'd never be without one again!

Got to the office at 6AM today. Just got back from a 5 mile run though. It is chilly out!

 

I've considered that. Honestly, the sensors are pretty handy. I line myself up and back up until the sensors beep slow. Then I know I'm about 3-4' away. Get out, make sure the tongue is high enough to clear the ball. Then, creep back until it beeps really fast and goes to a solid tone. Then, I'm at the range I need to be at to make it fit.

Never had one. The 2007 Tacoma didn't even have sensors when I bought it, I added those a couple years in and they were great! I'm fairly confident backing up the truck so just having sensors is fine by me for now.

 

I learned to drive without cameras or sensors. Haven't needed them yet.
