It still hurts only when the skin gets raw and stretched (Giggity) but I want to say a few months maybe 4 to 5 of really really using it. I can use my regular grip (double overhand) up to 225, then I hook the rest.
At first I didn't really know how to do it properly so I kept almost pulling my thumbs out of the socket, but when I learned to push down and turn my wrists in, then hook, then turn my wrists out and "lock it" it became muuuuch easier. Like I prefer it now to straps. I'm still tearing calluses off every now and then from the weight but the satisfaction I get from a heavy DL out weighs the pain.

You hooking too? It's the best!

Got a squat PR today at 225. Moved pretty easy but felt like 315 when I unracked it. Just did deadlifts and squats today.

    DL:135x5,225x5,275x3,315x1,275x3x3
Squats:95x5,135x8,185x3,205x1,225x1x2, 135x8x2 with a 2 sec pause at the bottom.

How do you do hook grip? I've never had it hurt even deadlifting at #500. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Wrap my thumb first, then grip down on my thumb with my fingers (not including my pinky) it feels like my thumb is separating from my hand

I only switch grip on my max pulls (left hand pronated, right hand supinated). I double overhand on anything else to build my grip

Yea that works just fine. I did double overhand until 315, after that I switched.

I switch grip on heavy stuff. It’s easier to keep your back tight with double overhand or hook grip though. That’s why I wanna figure it out

Strengthlevel.com has good charts comparing your bodyweight and what a beginner, novice, intermediate, advance and elite lift should be. I think everything on the charts can be obtained naturally, even the elite standards with a lot of dedication. I've always striven to hit the elite standards, which are (for my bodyweight of ~210):

    bench: 391 (I'm at 350)
    deadlift: 573 (I'm at 500)
    squat: 509 (I'm at 415)

    Total: 1473 (I'm at 1265)

I prefer mixed grip when going heavy, but I've been trying to do double overhand more for grip strength. Only downsides of mixed grip are the increased chances of ripping a bicep when lifting heavy and the muscles on each side of the body developing differently from the alternate hand positions.

Fuck a hook grip...I like my thumbs.

5'11''. With blue jeans, I wear a 34x32. With dress pants, I wear a 34x30 because dress pants aren't supposed to have any bagginess in them, you uncultured swine.

This is how dress pants are supposed to fit:
