A.c. compressor

Anybody else have A.C noise when compressor engages?

What kind of noise? Its normal for the RPMs to go up a little and thereby hear more engine noise when the compressor kicks on.

also my AC makes a kind of intermittent 'wheezing' noise when it's on...sort of like Darth Vader breathing. I need to get it recharged and checked out for leaks.

 

It's like a whining noise as soon. As the compressor engages.

 

check your belts and bearing

 

man for a low mileage car, that should act as new, yours has a lot of issues!!!!

 

AC compressors are notorious for needing work (a recharge at least) when they aren't used regularly, mine sat for years so I'm not surprised. Vehicles are supposed to be driven, when they aren't you get gremlins which is what I've mostly had to fight off. The supercharger is what caused most of my headaches TBH (emissions mostly)

They are for the most part, I got smogged so I'm happy lol.

Anyway sorry to derail your thread OP, given the age and mileage of your AC compressor you might just need a recharge. Hard to say for sure without hearing the noise but AC systems do need to be serviced regularly to run well.
