What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I hope you lubed the shit out of those bushings, mine have been super squeaky

 

(need more cap advice) anyone who's had or has a cap, what do you do to prevent the rubber seal from messing up the paint on top of the bed rails? Not that I'm trying to keep the rails mint or anything, they're already pretty beat up, but i don't wanna have these nasty looking white rails when I take the cap off and find that the paint was rubbed off down to primer, similar to how bed liners wear the bed down.

 

After @Blackdawg suggested using basic moly grease, mine have been perfectly quiet for months.

Now my poly leaf spring bushings that are still running Super Lube, those are a different story.

 

What does that mean? Saved from what?

 

I think Ive got the ptfe super lube in there now.. guess ill have to try that stuff

 

I'm coming up on 50K miles on mine. Used Lucas Red 'n Tacky. The have never squeaked. The uniball however is a different story.

 

I used a fair amount of marine grade lube. I couldn't find the recommended super lube.

 

What kind of grease should I be using when I rebuild my manual hubs? Just high temp grease or wheel bearing grease?

 

Need the good uniballs with Teflon liners.

Tri flow lube is good though for them

 

She got caught in a fence some how when she’s was jumping over it.
So i cut a wire and freed her. I don’t know if she’s gonna live or not, she didn’t ever try to move while I was there.

But I f eel like I gave her a Bette chance to live than she had caught in the fence.

Pretty sure all uniball UCAs come with uniballs with teflon liners.

Yeah, there are numerous products out there that come with the PTFE ingredient that's in Tri-Flow.

 

I used super lube in my bushings and super lube dry on the uniball, so far it's quite but I've only got like 500 miles on mine. Unrelated but do you guys know if skids for 3rd gen runners will work on our trucks?

 

Loosen the bolt jack the truck up and pump the zerks until it starts to ooze out. Used the red marine grade lube, fixed all my squeaks.

 

Just make sure it’s lithium based

 

Swapped my 17" light bar for a pair of MIC 9" round lights.

 

I didn't see anyone else answer this so... I had a 95 Corolla with the same problem, the the lighter socket had a fuse hard wired in it. I had two options, replace the socket or jumper around the fuse. I just replaced the socket.

This image is for a Mazda but it is the same thing.

 

So I guess the previous owner had the right tie rod on the left side and vice versa. The effects were clunking and rubbing on left turns-threw a wheel weight (u turns or 3 point turns especially). We’ll see how it drives after we swap em back.

 

I'll have to double check that on the camry. If it is out thanks a bunch. time to head back to the pull a part.
