    Good point!
If it is not written down, it did not happen. Get it on paper before you give money.

Agreed, once it's locked in writing then give a deposit not before.

msrp on my 18 dbsb auto prem/tech off road 4x4 was 41600. Best I could get was $39400. My trade they would not confirm till my truck arrives. They told me $26800 on it 2 weeks ago and truck is due in first week in Dec. They said they would have to get me trade again when truck arrives. I told them fine as long as if they lower the trade any lower I can walk and they give my deposit back. I feel they can actually sell the truck for at least $38000 and I think my trade should be at least 28k anyway. We will see if they lower my trade value when it arrives. Heck in Okla after you buy it you have 30 days to get tag and tax. So that is about $1500 to the state on top of 39400.

Signed for a TRD OR DBSB MT in black with tow through Costco last week. Local dealer indicated Costco auto program deal=invoice -$100, so I signed for something like $33,740, excluding taxes and fees. I felt it's pretty reasonable. Although that means I need to sell a 2012. So if anyone is looking for a 2nd gen TRD sport, I'm yer guy.

Wow, $100 less that invoice is a great deal for a new 2018! I see you're in Idaho. I am in Southern California so the getting a dealer that low on these is really, really tough (I'd say impossible but maybe someone has done it). I hear other's stories and this region seems to be the hardest place to buy a Tacoma. WTF.

The MSRP for that truck is 34,485.. how is the invoice price $33,840? I'm assuming you had some options like mats, tonneau, and/or you meant to say INCLUDING instead of excluding fees?

I'm looking for a similar truck (7545) and trying to figure out what the invoice price really is so I can negotiate better at my dealer.. My dealer is offering 1k OVER invoice and I don't think that's good enough!

Just a guess at this point, but the MSRP went up $955 from 2017 on model 7545 so I would guess invoice would go up a little less than that based on historical price data (2017 Invoice $31064) without delivery fee would be around $32k.
    Delivery fee from Toyota is:
    Southeast Toyota: $970
    Gulf States: $1045
    All other Regions: $995

So $33k would be invoice pricing plus delivery with no packages. Not including TTL or dealer options, or dealer fees.

I am expecting invoice for a 7545 TRD OR DCSB 6MT with Premium and Tech packages including delivery should below $35390. For the 2017 version it was not difficult to negotiate to around $34k with premium tech and tow, so I expect to pay no more than $35k for the comparable 2018 with leather and cement. May have to wait a while but not going to pay "suggested retail price".

Yeah I agree it' better to wait. I didn' wait and am paying $226 less than msrp but am getting exactly what I want and have been without a car for a year already. So my impatience is costing me but in the area I live I doubt I'd ever get big savings any ways.

If I was stuck driving a matrix with pink seat covers, I might pay MSRP as well.

That is because they easily make 50% margin on the dealers adds. Nitrogen in tires is classic example. By far my #1 worthless option on a Toyota is the vehicle protection pkg.. I was lucky when I bought my Tundra. It had no dealer or Toyota add ons. Saved me a couple of grand. Only one I wanted was spray in bed liner and I got it done $130 cheaper than Toyota price

I told them, no dealer or port add-ons. I want the two factory packages and nothing else or I will walk. I also mentioned that if they treat me right, my wife would really like to get a new 4Runner TRD in the very near future.

I just ordered a 2018 Tacoma Off Road 4x4 DCSB with Premium package, Tech package, a handful of other small options (tonneau cover, security system w/ glass break sensor, bed mat, etc.) I am paying invoice +$300. It is a factory order so it may take a while to get here but I am patient. Ordering like this allows me to get the exact specs I wanted with none of the extra crap I don't. That's worth a few hundred dollars that I can put to use on other upgrades - like lift and tires.

dealer priced DCSB OR w/ premium package at $37500 and provided $3400 in 'savings' to knock this down substantially. tentatively trading in my 16 so they can flip that... i feel like this is a killer deal, no?

If it is 4wd and not 2wd then yes that would be a good price. MSRP on an Auto 4wd TRD OR DCSB with Premium and delivery fee should be north of $39k.

seems like a good deal. best I have seen is msrp around 41K - and 38,900 is the best discount a dealer has told me so far for the same thing.

The sticky cost thread needs to be updated with all the invoice costs for the different models, packages, and options. Once you know the exact invoice costs for your build, I would try to use that as a rough goal. Thats what I did. I was well-prepared and , as they say, knowledge is power.
I had great luck starting with Costco pricing with a few dealers and trying to negotiate down from there.

It really is a game of diminishing returns. I mean, I could have spent days or even weeks more trying to get an extra $200 or $400 lower from someone, somewhere. But you have to do your own cost/benefit analysis on that effort required to reduce the cost by 1/2 of one percent or so.
