Never had a problem with the anti-locks not working during a panic stop.

No, when the body shop paints a vehicle they have to blend to the sun faded color of the vehicle.

Check the gaps around the doors and hood. They should be uniform around the whole vehicle. If some gaps are wider than others than you could have some missed frame damage, or the part(s) could have been installed wrong. I work for an insurance company and I've been around shops my whole life. Despite what you may have heard neither the insurance company or shop is out to get you. If you truck is less than a year old and has less than 12k miles they should use OEM parts. If not, they will use the most "cost effective" insurance quality part. Good luck!

So the other insurance company admitted fault, however they have a "$10k max payout" for the claim so refused to pay for a rental car.

I drove the truck 1500 miles home and turned it into a body shop. A 4-6 day repair turned into a 3-4 week repair, with a total bill of $16,000

Got the truck back Thursday, and while driving today I destroyed the transmission because the shop forgot to clamp down the transmission fluid hoses which resulted in them dumping out.

Good god, this is why I HATE letting other people touch stuff on my truck, sorry to hear that. Can't imagine how pissed I would be, hopefully the shop takes care of you.

    WTF? X2
Why does the at fault insurance company get to deny part of your claim (loaner vehicle)?

You are absolutely right. Never take your vehicle to a direct repair shop for the insurance company. They have sold there soul for more work (referrals). They have ridiculous turn around time goals set by the insurance to force the hand of the repairer. Which leads to them repairing as much as they can as not to wait for parts . If parts are required and they have blemishes or dents they are more apt to repair the inferior parts or use aftermarket because it's in there contract. Even use junkyard welded on parts. They also only aloud certain operations so overall there is less time on the ticket . To put it simple the tech has to spend less time with your vehicle to make money for his family.

It used to be called steering and was illegal. Now the insurance company has found a loophole by setting up contracts (Direct Repair Programs) with the shops to squeeze them .

We don't have drps at our dealership . We'd rather get payed and my goal is to make the insurance pay for 100% of the damage.

Because in the Stare of Nevada the minimum policy is $10,000 and that’s what the guy had.
I didn’t know that was a thing either - I thought if you were in an accident m and it wasn’t your fault then the other guys insurance covered it, period.

His insurance was also Permanent General which specializes in “insuring those with bad credit or bad driving histories”

This is what uninsured/under insured coverage is for. Your insurance covers the difference and gets you back on the road and then goes after them if they can

Had something similar with the lady who hit my wife’s car when we lived in Oklahoma. She wasn’t even licensed and that was a heck of a fight just to get a rental covered.

Unless you want to upgrade components, never let them put non-OEM shit on your vehicle. It just saves the ins. co money and could jeopardize the integrity/quality of your ride. Yes, there is likely a valid diminished value claim.
