Let's See Your Cats!!!

All 3 of my girls got spayed about 2 weeks ago and I walked in yesterday to see they were so peaceful sleeping together. Before the spay they wouldn't have done this. Definite personality changes in all of them(mostly good)and some calming down it seems. The Calico tried to fight our 50lb male bulldog the other day because he snapped at her and the whole pride(as we call the 3 of them)jumped his ass. He crawled under the coffee table to get away and I was laughing my ass off at how quickly roughly 20lbs of combined feline fury put him in his place.

 

In my experience cats will claw things, but if you have other things and they learn to use them, you should be ok. They need to do something to keep their claws healthy so give them a place to do it.

 

She’s pretty much a model.

 

Make sure you keep their nails trimmed too.

 

Here’s a fun one:
Giving out treats to all three kitties before bed last night and Ollie decides to stand up on his hindquarters and grab for a treat. Usually I’ll drop them but he beat me to it and chomped right down on the tip of my middle finger! None of my cats are biters. It was a complete accident. First time I’ve ever been bitten hard enough by a cat to draw blood.
Cleaned it really good.
Ollie is our most skittish cat and when I yelped he took off & hid under the table.
He’s not playing with a full deck.

This. Buy some sisal rope and make your own scratching posts. Have a few in different rooms so when they have the urge to scratch they can do it right away, because you know a cat isn't going to walk far to scratch when the urge comes.

 

It's because they are essentially dinner if they get out. Without claws they are defenseless

 

And if they want to go out, they will.

 

We don't declaw and we don't let them outside. Our cats don't tear up the furniture either. Make sure you have a scratching post and try to train them to use it.

 

My one indoor cat has gotten out a handful of times, mostly when the dog is transitioning between inside and outside.

Who said cats and dogs can't get along.

 

It is my understanding that the process is similar to cutting the last section of a person's fingers off.

 

It is. I briefly worked as a vet tech just out of high school. It’s horrfying.
You know how you can press on the paw to push the claws out to trim them? Do that. Then slide the nail clippers up over the first knuckle that’s behind the nail, under skin/fur/muscle. Cut there. It would be equivalent to cutting your finger off at the base of the finger nail so that it doesn’t grow back.

We were out of town for a few days and this guy was starved for attention.

 

Mine is in there somewhere. I have 3 of them, a feral brother sister combo(the brother is hiding in this pic) that are sort of tame now, and a 12 year old brute that rules the hood haha.

 

I’d swear ours are related.
