I bet you would have got better mpg on 4.10s or 4.30s due to the weight.

And how much is the new build going to cost to get slightly better mileage? :stirthepot:

I just did the math, and very conservative numbers show saving $300 over the course of 20,000 miles.

Should have just put up with the bad mpg Brandon and continued to Baja.

Have you considered buying something with a blown motor and swapping a small diesel in it? I think a diesel is the only way you are going to get the mileage you are after.

Not sure if a Forester would fit the bill but my buddy gets 35mpg in his. He drives like your great great grandpa in a model T though.

Also now that you are back give me a shout when you want to climb.

I agree. A lot better. 3.73 are not good when you consider all the weight.

The main point everyone is missing is gas mileage is NOT the main reason for getting something different. Merely something i don't want to go lower than for the next build.

Of course I'm now realizing that the camping rig won't be driven very much so there's that. But I'm not going to leave a $30k build sit in the driveway when I can have a $5k one and a garage to put it in.

I don't currently have a garage so I'm not looking for a project... But since I'll be having a cheaper camping rig I'll be building a house and garage when I find property.

    No swaps.

I'll let you know, guessing there's always stuff that's dry?

My spare time has diminished greatly, so who knows when I'll get free time. Gotta knock out a bunch of work so I can start planning the next vacation.

Hey Hoss, been a while but I clicked on your thread and read 2-3 pages to kinda sorta get caught up. I know it's a hump from you but it looks decent and might could fit the bill.

You want me to come back to FL!? Surprisingly those are similarly priced here.

And it may be something that comes later. I'll probably make it to January and buy a truck for work and worry about the other one later.
