2016 TRD auto 6 will not move in Drive or Reverse

I had to get to work.

 

I live in Texas and mine stick. Not from the cold but if I engage the parking brake it locks up at times. I either put the rear air locker on and give it some gas or if I'm not lazy I smack the rear drum with a metal bar and it unlocks. It's really fun on steep inclines offroad and in places like Moab

 

You may be due for a shoe change, or adjustment. Have you been in there to make sure all the hardware is still honky dory?

I've been waiting for this thread to pop up. Same thing happened to me middle of a hot summer day, although the truck hadn't been driven in nearly 2 weeks. 2017 OR, less than 5k on the clock. Started the truck up, hit the gas........ nothing. Definitely not the brakes, felt like the tranny was not engaging in Drive. Shifted through D/N/R a few times, gassed it in Drive, the truck felt like it was struggling against its own driveline as opposed to the brakes. Eventually the truck moved and was normal but I have never seen that happen in a vehicle before.

To make things worse, I wasn't yet daily driving the truck but my expectations were high from my previous two 2nd gens, then started reading up on all of the 3rd gen hate on TW.

Ultimately this ended up being an isolated incident, and since daily driving the truck now for the last few months I find a lot of the 3rd gen engine/drivetrain hate unfounded.

Mine definitely wasn't brake related so if this happens to what is actually going on.

 

Living in MN this is very common with my 2017 TRD Off Road

When the rear brakes get wet and you apply the parking brake it will freeze in the locked position.

Releasing the brake lever does turn off the brake light but does not release the pad being frozen to the drum.

Going backwards in 4 wheel drive with the locker engaged has worked even in sub 0f weather.

Not washing the truck in the winter is not an option as it will rust worse than they already do.

Not using the E brake in sub freezing temps is the only solution I have found.
