Holy shit that's a lot. Do y'all go to Costco and just buy an ass load of food, like an entire pallet of chicken, and split your $750 bill 4 ways...then do it all again in a week?

I've discovered the magic of baking chicken instead of cooking it on the stove top. It takes a bit longer...but damn always more tender and deicious, if you put a sauce on it the heat can Carmalize the sauce on the chicken, and you free up a burner to cook other shit.

    I'm so behind the times

Not to derail this insanely riveting pant length conversation, but was wondering what some good methods or programming are to focus on next year.
    • Squat - Right now I hit my year-end goal of 300 squat so I decided to push to 315 by 12/31/17, probably doable.
    • Bench- Lacking because I fucked my arm up and have maybe benched 20 times this year tops and hit 205x1 with lots of speed and racked because I was alone in the gym with no spot. 225x1 by 12/31 should be well within reach.
    • Deadlift - Felt good at 315x2 and I could have gone up or gotten more reps, but I always end up tacking multiple lifts onto a workout and drained by the time I get to the second or third movement (the reason I quit doing Stronglifts). Maybe shooting for 325x1+ by 12/31.
    • Push/Press - I can rock around 155x5 so might try to see how much higher I can get. Next to squat it's the only lift I've consistently trained this year since it didn't hurt like bench did with my injury.
I've been on 5/3/1 a few times but it's hard to get to the gym 4 days a week and hard to make progress when I try to double up.

I definitely want to hit 1,000 total next year but also want to get some size/definition and guessing I need some hypertrophy in my life. I've basically abandoned programming for the majority of this year and just went in and lifted heavy or for reps until I felt sufficiently fuckered enough to leave. I do like it, but just wondering what y'all do for programs/methods/hypertrophy/etc. I'll continue to bulk (aka just eat whenever whatever at all times) and plan to cut early next year maybe.

We do a lot of bulk buying. Sams Club gets hit once a week. We get like 10lb bags of rice lol

We also have two fridges. The fridge in the garage is for premade meals and beer.

Broiling chicken is good too. Cooks fast.

I'm assuming the guy on the right will be standing all day . If I had to wear that all day my nuts and everything else would be worn raw . That look as uncomfortable as can be.

No Cole Haan at Ross/Marshalls. Don't worry, I won't be going in and buying all your precious wife-beaters...I don't wear an extra small, anyway.

I couldn't imagine meal-prepping alongside 3 other people. I get overwhelmed just cooking for myself. My wife doesn't even come in the kitchen when I'm prepping b/c it's so hectic lol.

For me (with goals of getting both bigger and stronger), the best plan is a combination of hypertrophy and high weight, low reps. It can be done in 3 or 4 gym days.

    Currently, I'm doing this:

    chest/tris: 4 chest exercises @ 4 sets and 3 triceps exercises @ 3sets
    back/bis: 4 back exercises @ 4 sets and 3 biceps exercises @ 3 sets
    legs: 3-4 quad exercises @ 4 sets and 3-4 hamstring exercises @ 4 sets
    shoulders: 4 exercises @ sets.

Rep ranges vary from 3 to 25 on everything. Obviously, if you're doing 3 reps, it better be heavy weight. The last rep on every set of every lift should be max effort...if it's not, go up in weight. I try to do an even amount of high and low reps because bro science has proven to us that low reps = strength gains and higher reps = size gains...best of both worlds.

If 4 days is too much, do something like this:

    chest/back
    legs
    shoulders/arms

Some people do shoulders/legs, but if you're doing your leg workout like you should, there will be no energy for anything else.

It's not that bad if you actually take the time to find clothes that fit your body well. Most people go to Jcrew or another "dressier clothes place" and get something generic and it's too tight because Jcrew and other places tailor their apparel for skinny people or too loose because it's cheaply made to fit a range of body types (I used to exclusively shop at Jcrew for work clothes and I had to stop because, like you said, it made my nuts and quads uncomfortable when sitting because my legs are bigger than those of a 110 lb. runway model). I've found a few brands that give me plenty of nut room and (just as important) quad room and some brands even use a synthetic blend that will stretch from the knees up. The best part is that's it's stylish: not overly baggy or too tight and it's tailorable.

If you have to dress up for work, then I think you should be comfortable over everything, but I also believe looking good is also beneficial in most fields. In the field I work in, presentation matters. Also, it gives the ladies (and @ThunderCookies) some eye candy.

Thanks dude, appreciate the feedback! I did the standard beginner shit of Stronglifts because my squat sucked and my goddamn orangutan build required me to work on form a lot but I feel like it left everything else behind. 5/3/1 plus boring but big helped but want to branch out and add a little more direct hypertrophy for eye gains.

That's basicially how I structure my week. I'll do like, 1.5 leg days, where at least one day a week is just legs and after about 3 days if it's recovered I'll throw in 3 different exercises after something else(as long as it doesent leave me screwed for weekend adventures)

On days I'm not hitting legs I'll throw in 4 or 5 ab workouts too

My gym isn't fancy. Just a big room filled with weights. But it's $20 a month and open 24 hours a day and it's not pretentious at all. Last night a dude comes in, he's a regular. He takes off his shoes and socks which seems dumb if you're around weights, but whatever, maybe it helps with posture or something. Then this fat ass takes off his shirt. He's walking around in nothing but gym shorts and I'm thinking it's pretty inconsiderate. Then he brings out a speaker and starts blasting his own music. Really, guy? My gym plays music like most places, but if you want to do your own thing you bring ear buds, right? Not this douche canoe. And his music is way inappropriate. Like shockingly inappropriate. And now his back sweat and stale cigarette smell is slathered all over the benches and of course he's not wiping anything up. I feel like a confrontation would definitely escalate. How do you guys handle stuff like this?

Hey fuck you buddy! I don’t smell like cigarettes....

Seriously though, as long as he didn’t look like he eats trenbologna sandwiches, I’d say something to him. I value my serene alone time at the gym and I’m not gonna let some fucktard ruin it.

That was exactly my instinct. But I really do think things would escalate quickly. There are things worth fighting about, but I'm not trying to trade hands with a bacne covered neck beard over gym etiquette. Is the no shoes, no socks, no shirt thing normal? I've worked out in other gyms, but I've never seen anything like it. Even at my MMA gym, dudes wear rashies.

I’ve seen no shoes for deadlifting, but the rest is fuckery...fortunately, I used to work at my gym through college, so I have no problem telling someone to knock off their fuckery...however, if you think he’d be a douche and try to fight you, I’d get backup so he won’t even think about it. Or if you yourself are a hoss, go up to him, spit in his face, take his woman, and tell him to fuck off.
