Ok i am new to this so bare with me....my Tacoma needs a motor what do you all think about doing the Cummins 2.8 OR letting paradise racing rebuild my stock 4banger ??

Both are going to be 10 + grand

Like everyone else I want the best of both worlds great fuel economy and POWER :)

    Cheers

Put a used engine in for 2k and then supercharge it for 5k more. Take 3k+ and put it in retirement. More power than either of the other options and easier to do.

I still wouldn’t, in the end you’d still have an 11 year old truck that’s not worth much. Would be cool to see someone swap a diesel, but financially it never makes sense.

    Seems like I'd be the first to put a 2.8 4cylinder create engine in a Tacoma..if I can ?

? Not sure if serious.....But its fairly easy. If one has money that they have already paid taxes on, then they can go online or through a local financial institute and use the money to purchase stocks in a retirement based account that aligns with the method of purchase.

This is very true, it will never make financial sense. While we all love seeing these kinds of things done, advising the OP to do either is a terrible idea. Thats still not even accounting for his age and financial situation or family/housing factors.

The Cummins is going to be more than $10k due to having to fabricate motor mounts, gotta clean out or (more than likely) replace the fuel tank, run new fuel lines, hopefully someone makes a bell housing adapter to bolt up to the transmission. Hopefully you don't have to cut the firewall, an electric fan for the radiator, new radiator, or relocating the radiator, but it gets my vote.

I did this when I was younger, dumped more money than I care to remember into a Honda Civic. In the end I had a really fast Honda Civic that was still only worth about 3k. What the OP needs to remember is let’s say you have the 10k and you build or swap a motor, first of all it gets very expensive with all the little and that 10k could turn into 12-15k real quick. Second is that what if something goes wrong, now you have a super expensive paper weight. Save your money and just find a stock replacement motor. They last a very long time, I know you blew yours but we have no details on what happened.

There is a company out of Texas that does Tacoma Diesel swaps. Costs around $20. I would grab a used engine and SC it.

If you can score a Diesel cheap and someone will hook you up on labor I would say go for it, or you can do an LS swap. =)
