That's good to know, thanks for the update. There was a SoCal guy and I'll be damned if I can remember his TW name that CVT took good care of with his 1st Gen tent.

Ruggedized Kukenam on it's way... :bananadance:

Anyone have any recommendations for a ceiling hoist to get this thing on and off the truck and stored in the garage?

Can anybody give me some insight into how small a Tepui Ayer is?
I've never been inside an RTT but am in the market, and am attracted to the Ayer because:
    1. I can store it in my apartment easier when not in use
    2. I like the "sky" ceiling

I have 1-2 people in the tent. I know the dimensions, but i'm looking for more of an intuitive feel for what it is like inside...anybody care to share some insight (i.e., if you find it way too small or acceptable)?

    Thanks!

I don't have an RTT yet, but something you might want to consider would be if you have gear/animal with you. In a 2 person tent having 2 people in it plus gear, it might be kinda tight. I will most likely get a 3 person, to have the extra room for another person, gear, and possibly a pet. These guys can tell you first hand though.

I have a CVT Mt. Shasta, which is the next size up from the equivalent to the Ayer (so it's like a Tepui Kukenam). It is comfortable for two people but not more - even having our 7 year old daughter in there for one night was no fun. So, I'd say that with two people in the Ayer, you're going to be crunched. Also - was just on a trip with an Ayer, and it's definitely small - it really looks like a 1 1/2 person tent when you see it on a rig.

Thanks guys. That's just about all I needed to hear. Going to look for a Kukenam class tent.

i just picked up a Kukenam. Its just shy of a queen size mattress for width and then its 8' long. But you have to remember the tent is shaped like this /____\ so you lose some inches down low of "sleep-able" space. Im 6'8" and slept great inside with me and the wife, although i dont really see how we could have a third up there with us. But you may not be as broad as i am.

Added a ladder landing pad before it gets dented. I’ve seen the rubber mat as @MJonaGS32 had it on the base I bought from him. I’m a commercial flooring contractor so I threw on some double stick commercial waterproof product. Should do the trick.

Also swapped to a black cover. Much nicer with the look of my runner.

Picked up a RTT today. Tepui. What is everyone using for lights inside? I was thinking ENO lights.

    Not enough...
So my hard shell CVT came off today. Spoke to Bobby about a week ago. He is amazing. Down to swap it for a Mt. Shasta, so Im going back to a soft tent. Shell/bedrug coming off tomorrow. Truck gets detailed and RCI bed rack is going up... Time for a facelift. lol

So, if anyone if SoCal is interested in a white Leer 100XQ in great condition, hit me up.

I use some cheap fairy lights.

Have them strung up along the interior perimeter. They're not bright but enough light to play cards or whatnot and are rather peaceful. Just leave them in there when it's packed.
