I think they look terrible aesthetically both inside and out. The only style I've seen that I like is the cassette style I have in my office at work as it looks like a big ceiling vent, but at $5,000 it does nothing for me.

Honestly nothing wrong with a spacer lift. It does it’s job. I just need to replace shocks so I’m gonna do coils and such now too

Damn... do you have a 5.7 stuffed into that thing?
For a small room, they make small oil radiators that use an electric heater element. It's just a stand alone radiator, looks like a forced hot water one and will heat up and stay warm like a standard radiator also.

Are you my neighbor? they have a dog that bays all day long while they are gone. Stops when she hears their car coming home. I'm sure they think their dog is fine alone too.

I finally gave up & gave away my plants. I'm not home enough for plants.

Sound about right, not knowing the quality of the unit.
Generally you can save some money by draining the old heater before the plumber gets there - it could save you/him/her an hour of labor shutting it down, hooking up a hose, draining it most all out, ....

    I have forced air & keep the T-stat @ 63F year round.
An important question not asked is construction materials. In my case the walls are lath & plaster with no insulation, so it's actually cheaper to consistently run the heat at 1 temp to keep the walls heated. Assume your ranch has drywall & insulation which would allow for adjusting the temp w/ occupancy & sleep patterns.
My furnace runs off city gas & looks to be of about 1930 - 1950 vintage. Maybe not so efficient?

I think the common earlier radiant heat was done with electric grids in/under the floor. Modern interpretation is hot water in a pex like hose running under the floors. Not so expensive if the basement ceiling is open, costs more if they need to make holes to get the system up. There are some systems you can lay into the flooring when tiling a floor so the tiles will be warm under foot (think bathroom & kitchens).

Only a cast iron radiator pre-heats your coat before you go out & dries your hat & mittens when you come in. I'll take radiators any day!

Same way the homes I mentioned were.

A neighbor at my parents' old house had a similar system as the flooring you mentioned for the driveway.

Unless you have a concrete slab, that type of radiant heat in the floor is only but so effective. If you do a concrete placement and put the lines in the concrete, it will heat up the entire mass and make the house feel warm and cozy!
Only 1? You still starting early?
