Took delivery off showroom floor of 2017 Limited Tacoma. Low and behold I noticed running a little hot.
Got home checked under hood overflow bottle empty.
I pulled the radiator cap off could not find coolant.
Added almost a gallon of Prestone 50/50.
Go back to the dealer ",What the f _ _k?". It was like deer in the headlights.
What the hells wrong with Toyota ?
I am hearing FORD IN THE BACK GROUND CALLING ME

Its not the manufacturer fault. The dealer is the final in between from the factory and you, which is why they do a PDI checklist. It could also happen with Ford.
To say what's wrong with Toyota is too general of a question. The issue is with your dealership and the young kid they have doing the inspections.
I work for a pretty well known boat manufacturer who puts even more well known engines on their boats and I see issues from the factory, but we always do a very thorough job of PDI and usually catch anything before the customer takes delivery.
Dont blame this on Toyota as a whole.
Also, if its something like that is making you think about getting a Ford already, you bought the wrong vehicle from the get go and will probably never be happy.

Definitely a dealer shortcoming. If they cut corners on the simple stuff what do they do on the tough stuff?

Not only should you be checking all fluid levels when you take delivery, but also after they service you vehicle.

It doesn't really matter who does PDI they represent a manufacture that just happens to be Toyota.
When they issue you a check list a pdi was done and it wasn't
When you confront the dealer representative and they feed our bullshit. Who do you blame. And if a manufacture lacks a solid Quality Control since there has also been issues with automatic
Transmission fluids being low. If the dealer can't handle PD I
What else can they not due :santa:or don't do!:mudding::lalala::laugh::laugh::laser:p

That is no way to sell a vehicle. The salesperson should check the fluids under the hood right in front of the customer(free advice). They have the time to follow up on sales leads.

It's also been delivered at that point.

I'm not sure what delivery represents in a PDI, delivery to the dealer, or delivery to the customer.

Hey OP maybe you can get the dealer to through in a free manicure for your trouble.

What would you rather have coolant in your vehicle or pretty fingers? and they have the audacity to use words like priority in their moniker.

Yes, the dealer does represent Toyota, but you can not blame Toyota. You have to put the blame on the dealership.
Prime example, the company I work for has multiple dealerships across the nation. I have customers drive over 3 hours and passing by two dealerships to come to our location for service. They have had bad experiences at the other locations, however, they still love the boat and engine set up and do not blame the manufacturers in any way. They know there are other options and they choose to come to me because they know I care about them and their product.
So, I would suggest you find another dealer and stop blaming Toyota as a whole, otherwise, go visit your Ford dealership and trade that sucker in.
When you have an issue with your F150 you can blame Ford on the F150 forums.

sucks but this one is on the dealer. sadly most of them just care about getting it sold
and off the lot rather than checking things over to assure they're selling a vehicle that's
    in drive-able condition.

I made sure to run through the PDI sheet with a tech before I drove off the lot--just to avoid this sort of issue. Just my habit, but the only person I trust to do anything properly is myself. Too many corners get cut these days...

    You addeded Prestone 50/50?

    Umm what color??

If you didn’t add pink now everything has to be drained and refilled.......

You can’t add green coolant and mix it with pink..

Agreed, I'd personally make the dealer own this one---have them drain and refill it. State that you had to use what you could find to avoid overheating the engine but know that it's not SUPPOSED to be used only the Toyota coolant.

Little known fact that the Limited in the Limited model refers to the fluids offered.

Hate to decipher what "off road" means then...."here's your new truck--broken down off the road."

I had to take delivery in a swamp.

Seriously though, make the dealer own this one. I would also contact Toyota corporate and let them know what happened, it certainly can't hurt.

Corporate purposely short filling all fluids .The savings adds up with 200 K trucks a year going out the door. This is a disgrace and disservice to the loyal Fanboy but the bonuses have to be paid somehow.

Agreed--I believe fluids are filled to the minimum required at the factory. The cost savings would be tremendous and I'm sure the schmuck that suggested that got promoted for it.

This before or after the URD exhaust? Not that dismiss for getting to check fluid.

I have to disagree. It is the manufacturer responsible. I work for one of those boat engine manufacturers. When I here about things like this happening I say WTF. How can something like this happen. Because someone is not doing their job. That's why the dealer does PDI. Thank you for doing your job. When this happens it makes the manufacturer and the dealer look bad.
