I hate driving in big boots. I'd rather drive in sneakers and change shoes when I get there.

Also, what's the purpose of heel/toe?

Super frustrating! You showed more restraint than I think I could have.

Matches revs on a downshift so you don't lose traction; keeps the rear end from getting loose from that hiccup when you declutch. For day to day driving it's not really necessary but it's easier on the synchros in the transmission. If you're driving 'spiritedly' it can keep you out of the ditch. Breaking traction at speed in a tight bend is a good way to introduce yourself to the ditch/wall.

It's absolutely necessary for daily driving!

All this talk is really making me miss driving a manual transmission...

Yeah. One of the cars I learned to drive on was a little two door wrangler MT with no frills. Driving that in the mountains of CO was fun! But driving a manual here with all the traffic would suck.

When we were racing the type r the active rev matching was amazing. I thought I'd hate not being in control, but it was so quick and smooth

Meh. For day-to-day I can't say that I really need to do a lot of rev matching. But, my manual transmission vehicles are both old trucks, so there's not a lot of 'spirited' driving involved with them. Just double-clutching, lol.

You're also not driving a 35 year old (or 50 year old) truck. :notsure:

    Edit- or an automatic, lol.
