So I did the ecgs bushing replacement when I lifted the truck. I checked underneath and there a lot of fluids seeping out. I was able to pull the cv joint creating an opening. How can I fix this? Here are pictures. The first one is how it is and the second shows when I pull the cv joint.

From the lools and sound of it, your CV isn't back in all the way, the snap ring hasn't expanded. When reinstalling it did you put a block of wood on the spindle end and give a good whallop with a BFH?

A buggered up or incorrectly installed seal or bushing will also let oil seep out. Easy fix if your CV is just not snapped back in. I use a giant flat head screwdriver against the flat notch on the axle to hammer it back in.

That’s what I did with the flat head and thought it popped. The seal is it supposed to be flush or pushed in all the way in?

Yeah seal should be flush if not just a thou proud. You didn't re-use the old seal did you? Did you grease the sealing surfaces of the new seal when you installed it?

That dust shield looks tweaked. Also, how far did you insert the seal? As mentioned, you will have to use a rubber smashy to confirm the cv is all the way seated. a little bit of axle grease on the retaining clip will help keep it centered to help seat it. Grease on the seal mating surface is also a good suggestion, although not your problem in this instance.

No I used a new one. I used the gear oil to lubricate it.

I put the seal all the way in. The new bushing went in all the way as well.

Hmm, then I'd definitely go with the axle needs some more in. Keep us posted.

The OP did follow proper protocol by asking a relevant question and providing the pictures in the first post. It's almost like he understands how this is supposed to work. With so few posts though it must have just been blind luck.

It's been a while, but it seems like we left the seal way out. Basically just got it flush with the putter lip of the housing. We tried it further in and it leaked. Couldn't figure it out till we tried getting it just barely in there. Hasn't leaked since.

Haha I tried to give as much information and visuals to fix my problem instead of leading to more questions. :)

    Bushing should be flush

Seal should be flush as well..... bet you didn’t install the seal correctly

Gonna have to tear it down and replace the seal.

Did you install the seal backwards
