Lift for width?

Ok....so after all this guys...I like the idea of the 255 80 17...which is somehow a “33” I guess...don’t understand all that but I am replacing a 265 65 17 on that same wheel and just not sure how this will fit. I found the tires I want in the 255 80 17 spec on eBay but when I input that it’s for a 2016 tacoma sport it says they won’t fit. By the way the tires are nitto ridge grapplers...anyone got anything on that?

 

Those tires are going to rub the UCA on stock wheels

You will need to run a wheel spacer

Which will make rubbing (on the fender/cab mount) more apparent

As previously stated​

 

255 = section width (tread width in mm)
80 = aspect ratio (ratio of sidewall to section width)
17 = rim size in inches

255mm x 80% x 2 = 408mm
408mm / 25.4 = 16.06 inches
16.06 + 17 = 33.06 inches

285/70 R17 for comparison:
285mm x 70% x 2 = 399mm
399mm / 25.4 = 15.71 inches
15.71 + 17 = 32.71 inches

 

I couldn't fit 285's on my stockoma until I did a 3" rough country spacer lift... Essssplain dattttttttt (the 285's did fit stock, they'd just rub really hard beginning at about 75%-full lock when turning the steering wheel)

 

No up travel.

 

I got plenty of travel.. I mean, I still gotta take her off road tho to figure things out... It seems to have plenty of travel

My explanation is that they don't fit. You'll see when you go offroad. The cab mount is the primary point of rubbing when attempting to fit 285s. That shit doesn't go any where when you lift it. It's still right there, same distance from the tire as it was at stock height.

 

You might want to explain a true meaning of "offroad". Some people hit a gravel road and tell everyone they don't rub "offroad".

 

Thats what I'm afraid in my head because even though they fit now, anytime I get compression it'll rub again

The only way to properly fit bigger tires is
