Not gonna lie, I traded them for lame ass baby stuff......... high chair, swing, etc.

 

Right now I have a BackFlip G2 hard cover. It was one of the very first things I bought when I joined TW, on a group buy.

 

And it flips up against the rear glass? Hmmmm, shoot me a pm if you get the topper.

 

Yeah, it folds up to the back glass, and has these two "arms" to hold it up there. I also have a set of tubes it came with, that you can install to "drain" water since a bit gets into the rails because of the way it is. Never used the tubs though.

Trying to convince the wife... she says it's "ugly" (trucks with caps), because it reminds her of "old man trucks".

Haven't found any though... And this one seems like a good deal... right?! I don't know jack shit about caps.

 

$500.00 is the cheapest I keep seeing... except that $300.00 one I missed out on a month or two ago.

 

When I got mine, I was searching about 3hrs away. I went up to NH to get it but it was already color matched and for 600, I was like this it's still half the cost of a new one.

IMO, I'm not a fan of caps on a PU. However, it looks like the windows are removable which would make painting fairly easy. I'd get a quart of single stage and spray it in the spring. FWIW, I have the equipment to paint it if you want to go that route.

 

This one is about 2 hours from me. Not too bad in my opinion. As far as the cap itself, if it's good or not as far as features, that I don't know since I don't really know much about caps. Seems like it's pretty decent because of the window thing, right?!

The thought of a cap is growing on me because of a few times that we got bigger toys for my son, and was kind of a pain to throw it in the back, having to fold the cover up, strap the toy down, etc... and since both of my kids are still really young, I have a feeling we'll be doing more of that sort of stuff. So figuring it would be a good thing to have. As far as the color thing, that's what I think I would do, paint it like that rather than going to a body shop to do it.

Yeah... I've seen a few pop up here and there, black, but they have always been $800 and more, and I doubt they would come down to around the $500.00 range.

You do a kick ass job finding stuff, so definitely appreciate you for that!

Now I'm torn because I think I got the wife on board.

 

My .02 is to wait for a color matched one, because painting it is a pain. I rocked the two tone look for a bit, but switched to a color matched cap recently. It's a night and day difference and looks so much better.

 

I think white is forgiving when running a black cap. Looks even better matched though.

 

Color matching would definitely be ideal, no doubt about that. Honestly I'm not too concerned about the painting anymore because my man @vssman offered to help, as long as I got the materials and helped him out with the process.

Agreed, which is why I ran it the way it was. Couldn't pass up the opportunity for a color matched one with windoors though!

 

Still looking around for a 3rd gen short bed cap in either black or quicksand. Any help is appreciated. Home base is NH, but I'll be in NJ this Friday and Philly over the weekend if anyone knows of anything good down there.
