Thanks to this thread I upgraded to the Optilux H4 100/80's about a month ago. I wanted bulbs I could buy off of Amazon quickly and not necessarily need to replace the harness. I am very satisfied with the results. Nice pure white beam significantly brighter than OEM. I'm sure the other options mentioned are brighter but this has worked great for me. Thanks!

If you are not running the harness your bulbs are not burning as bright as they would at the higher voltage the harness provides to the bulbs.

Nope. Sitting here with LTE and candlelight. I find the fog upgrade very useful for proximity lighting.

    Where you at?

    Sitting in the dark too?

I had some young girl randomly jump in my truck today after I slowed and flashed my lights at her thinking she was trying to cross a busy street where no one saw her dressed in dark colors with a blacked out cross walk, when she was apparently thinking I was agreeing to give her a ride. Not exactly what I had in mind, but the fogs definitely helped spot her.

OK. So if I want to improve light output by ONLY CHANGING THE BULBS, those Osrams at the beginning of your first post are the way to go?

I did the BHLM 7 years ago when I first bought my truck. Not too long after they fogged up and cracked. Im looking to buy OEM "smoked" headlight assemblies for my 2010. In the OP there are links to what appears to be what I'm looking for. Has anyone had any experience with them and their products? Thank you in advance

I have a 09 and also have cracked and fogged over lenses. I have searched for this set of smoked light housings as well without much luck. I did however find a black set on Amazon for a descent price that I have been thinking about purchasing. I think they’d look good with my charcoal grey factory paint color. I have provided the link. Any feedback is appreciated.

I've ordered both the headlight and the fog light harnesses, the bulbs are have been shipped from the UK. And Ray is making up the foglight harness for me. He has a spare, or had a spare connector, depends if anyone has ordered since me. will update when complete. Thanks again for the detailed description on the install, crashnburn80.

If you are looking for a bulb only upgrade, see the 'Other Bulbs' section at the end of the thread, and look at the stock wattage performance upgrades. While these are some of the best stock wattage upgrade bulbs, you are not going to see the 2x improvement like you would with the high wattage bulbs. The fuses on the 2nd can handle the 85/80w bulbs, though I'd still recommend the harness to run those bulbs. That is a good increase on the factory circuit and the harness not only protects the factory wiring, it is a performance upgrade in itself by delivering higher voltage to the bulbs causing them to burn brighter than they would otherwise.

Osram 70w Rallyes were the best high performance bulb to run without a harness. They have since been discontinued, Candlepower lists Volsas as an equivalent replacement, which is linked with a break down in the Performance Stock Wattage bulbs section. However, I just noticed Headlight Services still lists Osram 70w Rallyes as available, though their site may be out of date:
    http://www.headlightservices.com/Bulbs.html

Someone in this thread has purchased them and posted on it. The site I linked is a Toyota dealer site, so you are getting OEM parts.

Depo are popular on the forum. Many say if you don't seal the seems yourself with silicon before install they will leak and fog with condensation. The quality is not going to be on par with OEM but many seem happy with them. I cannot speak to those specifically, but many aftermarket headlight lack quality in areas that are difficult to see, like optics not being as good as OEM, UV stabilization of the lens leading to pre-mature lens fogging, bad seals leading to moisture in the headlight, or loose adjusters to aim the reflector. Of course none of these things are apparent when you are holding the headlight assembly. I'd advocate for OEM for quality but Depo seem like the most popular aftermarket inexpensive headlights.

Nice! Did you ship him the connectors?

Edit: I should add Welcome to TW!
