Looking for some help/answers on a warranty question. I bought the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty with my 2017 Tacoma, and I figured it was activated at purchase. I’ve been getting calls about “activating it before it’s too late!” recently. Does this warranty indeed activate at purchase? Are scammers calling me? Is any of this real??(jk) Any help would be appreciated as my dealership is not getting back to me

It doesn't help until your regular warranty expires. So if that's 3/36, you really bought a 7/64.

So the calls are just more sales calls.

I’m leaning toward scammers, since they hung up as soon as I asked them to verify they were with Toyota.
Considering the POS cars and trucks I’ve owned I’m alright with a 7/64.

You should expect to get mail regarding your car that is bogus. The red flag is that there is no business name that is anywhere except in fine print. They make it look like official Toyota car stuff but it's generic in the sense that you have to hunt in the fine print for the business name.

Stick with official warranties through Toyota corp and stay away from these third tier "ABC Insurance" offers.

If it’s not a Toyota warranty (service contract) DONT BUY IT. If it is a Toyota, buy the 8/125 and be worry free!

If you bought your vehicle form a dealer in the southeast you cannot buy the Toyota Sevice Contract. No dealer will sell you the Toyota one. They will only sell the one that is written by Southeast Toyota. In order to get the Toyota 8/125000 you have to go into a dealership outside of the Southeast Toyota area. I went to Kansas City and bought mine. In the old days you could get it done on the phone but several years ago they changed it and required you to go into the dealership. That was caused by Southeast Toyota complaining to Toyota. You can double check to see if anything has changed since 2016.

My last new Toyota was in '04 via a SE Toyota dealer.

The ONLY way that will ever happen again is if they had exactly what I wanted on the lot.

I'll make the trip to Tennessee to get what I want, not what those knuckleheads want to line their pockets with.

You can get a Toyota extended warranty from Jerry. He quoted me a warranty up to 10 years and 125,000 miles. My local dealer couldn't beat his price.

I'm guessing based on your user name that you're in Portland. That said, I highly doubt your warranty is from Toyota, but third party instead; as far as I know Toyota doesn't offer a 10 year warranty.

The junk calls/mail are all normal though. One tricked my wife that had perforated edges (imagine how they used to mail w-2s) so she thought it was a legit document. These 3rd party companies get aggressive.

Post like this that got these folks in trouble with Toyota usa where they shut down the folks so they can't sell out of state anymore. Posting detailed info for these folks pissed off those dealers that had higher prices.

I got the extended warranty, as well, and have received no calls. My dealer said it automatically begins after the regular warranty is up. It's on the Toyota server. I had my service manager check.

Who cares if it pissedoff the over priced pricks. We the people have the power, and we should discuss how some places are raping us with their overpriced shenanigans.

The only thing good about the SE region is that FWB has a dealer that does unlimited powertrain. I definately do not like all the ridiculous stuff they add at port from SE toyota though.

I even went to my dealer that I purchased my truck from. They offered me a 8year/84k warranty for $2900. I told him of the better deal 10year/125k for $1700. He called and made sure it was a true Toyota warranty. Then said he couldn't beat the deal and said he would send me there. So if they can't match it then let them cry.

Good luck trying to buy from out of state from Jerry. Cause you can't due to those pricks complaining to corporate.

You just have to go into the dealership to buy it. They will not sell it on the phone as of 11/16.

that was the point I was trying to make. if you are 500+ miles from the person giving the best deal on the warranty. they will sell it over the phone but you have to have an address in the same state as the person selling the warranty or you have to goto the dealer to do the paperwork.

the people saying screw the "pricks" doesn't realize that Toyota usa put a massive restriction on the sales of ext. warranty now.

and guess who won, the pricks he is complaining about.

before the crack down you could buy one from any location from any location (except GST and SET who have there own racket)
