    thats the biggest part. the last i heard, theres three left in existence. one white AWD model, and one black 2wd model, in Toyota's Private collection, and one more Black 2wd model in private hands, but the guy that owns it cant even run it, as the tune is all wrong, and the turbo on his is a custom, one off prototype model, that he only has one semi-serviceable spare left for. the biggest issue he has is tune/ecu is back from the days where they flashed an actual chip and placed it into the ecu, so theres no way to decrypt and understand the code thats on it to fix it. id really love to see them come out and run at goodwin, IIRC the private owner ran it there one time, and never again because of all the problems with it. it truly is an unfinished protoype.

    If he really wanted to get it running. Understanding that the car had to cost a small fortune, I'd imagine the owner would want the prestigiousness of a Motec though. It wouldn't be hard to get it running, but it would also mean altering its originality. Which might be considered sacrilegious to some.

    Not me though. Harness, injectors, Haltech Elite 2500, done. :burp:

    yeah. i wouldn't feel bad at all about having a new ECU put in, but IIRC the turbo is made from some special alloy that nobody makes anymore, and it would cost a lot of R&D dollors to make a replacement. thats probably the real sticking point.

    its a 600BHP 4 cylinder in a car that weighs 1650 wet. i doubt you can get an LS to get a better power/wieght ratio and not mess up the balance of the car.

    there is a guy in belgium that is making replica fiberglass bodies for the 222D, the full kit is around 6 grand, and it involves doing what toyota did, stripping the car to the bare monocoque and then attaching the panels. ive thought about one day, building a proper replica with modern components.

    yeah, the whole thing is basically a tube frame/roll cage with an engine and suspension bolted to it, and the bodywork draped over top to hide the bits underneath. im pretty confident the thing would have blown a lot of the other Groub B or S cars out of the water, as it made about the same power as they did, while weighing less than half as much.
