Question for the experienced guys who have participated in the ENH freeze your gas off run before... I'm interested in attending the run on December 9th. I'm having trouble deciding which run to sign up for. 2006 Tacoma DCLB, Icon stage 4 suspension, 34" cooper st maxx's, front plate bumper, sliders, ifs skid and t-case skid. No lockers though. Waiting to regear in the spring hopefully. Any input/feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

There are three runs this year: 1.) stock, 2.) Easy moderate and 3.) Moderate

Build-wise you are capable of doing all of these runs. I have done all of the trails in these runs and our builds are similar. What is more important is where you are skill-wise. The moderate run is difficult for sure, with large boulders to traverse and many rocks at least the size of "a microwave" - as stated by the leader of the run. Add to this the potential of ice and the moderate run becomes a hard run very quickly. No lockers will be an issue, but as long as you are willing to take a tug and listen to your spotter, you will be fine. On the moderate run (and maybe the easy moderate run too) you WILL use your sliders and skids. Expect to loose some paint off your armor. That being said, if you are looking for a challenging day, this is the run for you.

The easy moderate run is a mix of stocker roads and moderate roads. There are a number of trails that have basketball sized rocks (not an issue given your build) and there are as few ledges. One ledge in particular will take us the better part of an hour to get everyone through. Again, add ice and this becomes all the more difficult. In short, the easy moderate is no joke but very doable, so if you are still building your wheeling skills, I suggest this run.

The stock run will be a nice day of easy roads through the woods. If you are looking for a chill day, this is the run. Still lots of rocks, but nothing a fully stock vehicle coudn't do.

    Hope that helps!

Sean covered this quite well, just going to add my two cents. Your truck looks capable of doing the easy moderate and moderate runs on a normal day. There is one bolder on the moderate run that might give you a hard time where you are not locked and long, and if there is snow and ice. Here are a couple pics of the moderate run and bolder I speak of. The jeep took the harder line, straight up. I took the "easy" line, which is slick without ice. The line is drive across the trail, drive off camber far enough up that rock in front of the tree, so when you pivot around the bolder you don't catch the rear end on the rock to your far right.

    Hope this helps.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I want to add, that obstacle is a lot bigger in person than it appears in the pictures. When I went I saw a double locked Land Cruiser fail on the line going straight up to the left

Thank you for the advice and feedback! I'm probably 2 1/2 hours away and I don't want to make the trip to run a road I can find around here, in Southeast, CT. I want a little challenge. With that being said, I am going to attempt the easy/moderate run. @ecgreen @MTyota86 @mach1man001

I think that's a good choice. You,ll certainly find a challenge with the easy moderate run. One thing is for sure, you will get a chance to get "further out" in the woods then you could get in Connecticut. Look forward to meeting you. I drive the scratched up black taco with a dorkel.

Pics really don't do it justice. It's a cool obstacle though. Obviously much easier with the superior FJ....

With the 'superior' FJ, what are you waiting for?
