How's that frame recall going for you? Get it replaced yet?

There's six recalls listed for your 2013 alone...

I think the OP will be just fine regarding reliability.

You, on the other hand, might need to contact your nearest Toyota service representative soon.

I just traded my 07 Taco w/155,000 miles for a '17 Limited. Totally impressed with this new machine. Do it!

Total nonsense. Don't you think NHTSA would be all over it if that were the case. 0 issues here in 2 years. Highest resale value of any truck. Sure they didn't take your comment into consideration.
2nd Gen are looking very dated. But I really like the cassette players.
Cabs on 3rd Gen are 3x stronger than 2nd. Won't even get into the frame issue.

Reliability ratings of the 3rd Gen have dropped significantly compared to the 2nd. Resale is not the same as reliability. Jeeps maintain their value very well... and we all know...

The rear diff issue is huge and spands hundreds of thousands of trucks.

    These are facts.

Looks is all personal. The 3rd gen is a butt ass ugly truck to me. Especially in that hideous ass blue. I always wait for a clown to come dancing out of it (and by it I mean the massive grille).

Also people with ANY Tacoma should not throw stones at the frame issue. It doesn’t look like Toyota has done anything to change their frames. We probably are all at risk... even you.

Why throw stones at all, all gen's of Tacoma's are good trucks from what I see....

3rd gen is major improvement on 2nd gen's bubbly looks. If the grill and front end weren't so inflated it would be perfect.

Sides and rear look way better on the new ones. And I don't even hate the front.

I kinda think the 3rd gen is a little bit of a throwback to the old 80s and 90s Toyota pickups. More angles, a little more square, I love it.

I'd never buy a bright blue truck though. Always white or silver.

    Years ago I went from a 1988 4runner 22RE 5spd to a 2006 Tacoma SR5 4.0L Auto. Currently have a 2010 Frontier Pro-4x 6spd.

Looking back I wish I just put some money into my 4runner and kept driving it. I didn't have to worry about keeping it nice, I had very little money tied up in it. Reminds me how much simpler things used to be. Looking forward I'm really conflicted on what to buy next.

This thread was not about 2nd Gen trucks at all, nor asked of you directly to participate.

It was specifically about going from a 1st Gen to a 3rd Gen.

You may now go about your own business elsewhere. Thank you.

You ARE already at risk. Third gen MIGHT have issues one day as well, but your day is today.

What's failing left and right a $2 seal that is easily fixed on a few?
Jeeps were Jeeps until crappy Chrysler bought them.Take the Liberty ? Pos.
Tailgate on 2nd Gen looks like a cheap station wagon. Dated.
3rd Gen cab steel is 3x stronger than 2nds. 3x!!!

KBB rates 2017 the BEST resale vehicle of ANY.

Resale is indirectly tied to reliability. Get real.
