@22REthan Do you have a weight comparison between the two gauge options?

 

I'm also interested. I'm looking to get one based on the weight. Would this be correct? 50lb for the 10ga?

 

@Blackdawg ...good morning, did you hear from @22REthan? I'm thinking about ordering one for a Christmas present.

 

Not sure what's going on, he hasn't updated in awhile...I emailed about a skid back in late May and was told there'd be more in "a couple weeks", that was the last I heard. Ended up finding a nice deal on a full set of Budbilts so I'm good, but hope you guys are able to still order from him. His skids look awesome.

 

Do you have pics of your Budbilts?

 

I haven't installed the belly skid yet, had to get new cats installed and I didn't want to have to pull it back off. Probably put it on here in the next week or so, they are heavy AF

 

Cost? Lead time? Gauge? Weight? You paint/sandblast? Look like beasts

 

Bought them off a member on here locally, they came with his truck and he didn't want them. The full set retails for $575, I got it off him for $450(?) if I remember right.

3/16" steel, full set weighs about 125 lbs. Just a rattle can paint job, I beat my skids up so I didn't want to waste any money getting them powder coated or anything like that.

Not exactly... original post price was for manual only and minus shipping... current pricing (including hardware and shipping) as follows:

I want to know what you come to the conclusion of, having the same decision.

 

Well, considering Bud built is the only place to get 1/4'' aluminum which doesn't have a super strong belly design. And it cost a grand for a full set. It would be a hard pill to swallow. But only 68lbs. So like 44lbs over stock front skid. Pretty nice. And if you don't do anything hard core. Seems worth it.

If you offroad a lot. Steel is it. 3/16s barely works. 1/4'' is the way to go for a belly skid. Jerry at BAMF made some KILLER skids for 2nd/3rd gens all 1/4'' heavy duty steel. But to make them for 1st gens, we would need 30-40 people to put up and shutup close to 750 bucks a set. And I dont' think there are enough people on here that really need 1/4''.

 

So far my stock skid got ripped off and I got another from a junk yard. Never hit it again.... but then again I don't even have sliders yet.

 

I ran my stock skid for a little over a year of having my truck and doing 4x4 trails almost every weekend...it held up surprisingly well but looked like a beat up tin can when I took it off for the Budbilt IFS skid. I'd definitely invest in sliders though if you intend on doing any kind of moderate wheeling, those have saved the sides of my truck numerous times.
