Loudog504.....wow!!!! Mine has been in some steady/heavy rains since I put it on, and I have had nowhere near the problems you had. I wonder if an additional clamp or 2 on each side would have helped?

Ruggybuggy: I hope I don't have that issue - I live in NE Ohio in the 'snow belt'. My son had a Retrax on his previous Ranger for 3 years and it never froze up. Once, it wouldn't open the entire way - all but the final 8-10".

In had the RollnLock which is the same idea. The tonneau was made up of slates that would freeze and wouldn't allow the cover to open. The locking mechanism would also free up. Great cover in the summer.

Any recommendations for a low profile roll up tonneau cover that allows the usage of the stock bed cleats??

Not sure if your budget. But I love my diamondback cover. Strong enough to transport items on top. Or to sleep on. 2B61974D-70C3-455F-8513-56197AC0AFAF.jpg

I had an Extang "Laredo" soft roll-up on my 2006 Taco..... it served me well...was in like new cond. in 11 yrs when I traded for the 16.
I went hard tri-fold this time.
That cover model is not available anymore, but it's brothers look good. The tie-downs can be used....!!

TruXedo Lo Pro is a roll up you can use the sliding tie downs with.

I have had one on my truck for a little over a year now. It is alright for a roll up but I wished I would of bought a one piece, Undercover SE.

Keep an eye on craigslist or the for sale forums on here, there seem to be a decent amount of folks wanting to hawk their OEM who will also swap bed rails with you. I found one for around $300 on c-list.

Sorry, forgot the verbiage. I recently purchased the BakFlip aluminum tri-fold. Fit and finish is good. Looks like the closest thing to the OEM cover that I could find. Sorry for the crappy pics.

Does anyone know what cover (hard or soft) leaves more of the bedrails exposed?

Some covers lower the bedrails. I have a Bak Revolver X2 cover on a 17 DCSB. It provides brackets to mount the side rails down about 1.5" (I think). I believe some of the other Bak covers do the same.

I have the Rugged Cover II and love it. The mounting system uses the factory rails.

I hate how you have to change the the rails for the OEM one... rather keep things stock incase I ever decided to change it.
