Hey everyone! I have an 08 4x4 with 170k miles. I received all the correspondence telling me I'm eligible for a new frame if I meet the conditions which I believe is a hole 10mm or larger. The frame is in good condition overall, but I do have one hole that would meet that requirement. My concerns are 1) Is it going to create problems given the age of the vehicle? 2) I live in Fl so will the dealership have done enough of these to know what they are doing 3) Am I going to get charged for other parts they may break in the process? (I read that could happen on another thread) and 4) I hunt a lot and if given a loaner I would need a truck. Unless the dealership is ok with pigs/deer in the trunk  Any advice/insight would be appreciated.

New frame is better than a soon to be condemned frame, 10 days a week.

Any personal needs you'll have to work out with the dealer, as will any of your other concerns (pick the best dealer you can find).

There is no way I wouldn't get that replaced, it's only going to get worse.

    have it done
as others said it will increase value
had mine done on my 05 dealer was an ass (long story) but they did a good job on frame repair
right before i was done they told me i needed a front rack and other parts
I said no thanks picked up truck. Took truck to a reputable shop and they told me know way on rack, i drove it for another 11/2 yrs no problems
They should replace brake lines, bushings, lower control arms and maybe rear springs

talk it over with them first
    good luck!

Get the frame replaced. I agree with what the other posts said.

I can guarantee if they take a hammer to other parts of that frame, they'll easily blow a hole or three in it.

A new frame will be 100% a plus for you and will make you money if you sell it. One hole in a frame and I'm walking like most savvy car buyers will if they see one.

    1) shouldn't.....I live in Wisc and had no problems

2)Call around and find out who has done it and how long it will take and how many they have done.....I got from a couple of days to six to nine months

3)Read the fine print; it says at no cost to you....make sure to let them know you know this going in but they will probably try to get you on something. Any parts they remove like shocks or front brakes, you can buy new parts and they will install no charge.
Replacement will include frame, lower control arms, new gas lines, new hard brake lines but not the rubber lines going to the calipers and rear axle.

4)You can request a truck seeing as you "need it for work" but it's ultimately up to the rental agency that is in the dealership as to what you get.

Why would you not get a new frame paid for by Toyota?

I guess. Just worried some green tech will screw something up. Hate to mess with a good running truck. Oh well. I'm diving in

The campaign has been going on long enough now that all bugs should be worked out. Congrads on your 2018 brand new frame!

With a frame rust hole like that, and likely more damage in other places you can't see, the "good running truck" will be scrapped within 3 years.
