So I'm back in a first gen taco.

All has been well going over the vehicle for any needed repairs until I noticed this p/o installed gizmotron under the hood. It's a bunch of brass fittings used to connect these two (i am assuming) fuel lines.

Here's what I have under the hood

Here is a google pic of what I think should be there
    IMG_1288_ff09441d1acc2b1cf1bab3e400086a064a1bf22a.jpg

What part do I need to return this to normal? I have little knowledge of the fuel system. If anyone has the diagram for this I can find the part as well.

I can see the pics? :notsure:

Definitely not a stock thing there, maybe it's an additional inline filter?

i would unscrew it and get rid of it. It's probably one of those magnetic ebay filters that gives you 10 more MPG

They literally broke the internet. I look on forum threads from 6-7 years ago and all the pictures are broken.

It looks like some kind of quick disconnect maybe?

It appears to be moist with fuel so I'd like to get it back to stock if anyone knows or can share a diagram that will lead me to the part number.

Why do you "need" to change it back to original?

Is it malfunctioning, or leaking? If not, just leave it.

EDIT, you say it appears moist. firstly, lol, you said "moist"

second, it's likely that the connections are bad, just disconnect and re-apply thread sealant (or whatever) on them.

That'd be my first step, rather than replacing all the fuel lines/connectors.

Well little more background. It's smells of fuel and appears moist yes moist, not quite wet. I'm having the truck certified next week and fuel leaks aren't usually overlooked, even if it's just.. moist. There's sealant gummed up in that silver sleeve.

It looks concerning to me and if I simply begin to unbolt it all will I be covered in gasoline? Wouldn't be the first time but I fear something may be have been replaced with this gizmo

I can get better pics when I get home. It doesn't seem that the existing pieces are long enough to meet up if I remove the 'mess' of fittings.

Yeah get better pics. It looks stock on the fuel rail side, but can't make out the fuel line side. You loosen the outlet of the fuel filter and drain the fuel out under the truck instead of the engine bay.

You'll want a 14mm crowsfoot wrench and ideally a 17mm too to get those loose. Youll bugger up the fitting if you don't.

I don't think it will piss out much fuel at all. Reason I say that is I change my fuel filter which is under the truck at the level of the fuel tank and lost under 1/4 cup of fuel if that. The fuel system is not pressurized when the engine is off.

    That's my understanding anyways.

This is the fuel line side. It does look like i could take the contraption out. Can anyone confirm these are both the stock ends?

    Holly reducing bushings Batman!

I'd take a look at the threads on the fuel line. See if they're boogered up. But I'm betting po did that to put that gay filter in there.
