I just finished up changing over to LED’s for the tail lights and the backup lights. I went with Diode Dynamics Tail as Turn modules, Sylvania red LED’s 7443R for brake and turn, Sylvania 921 Super Bright 6000K LED’s for the backups and 6 ohm 50 Watt resistors to stop hyper flash. Definitely worth the money to have upper and lower acting as brake and turn signals plus the LED’s are brighter. Thanks ToyoDrew for your post, saved me looking that stuff up!

Just ordered the tail as turn and resistors from Diode Dynamics. Now I need to pick up some LED's for the tail and back up lights. Thanks for all the write ups in here because you guys make it look so easy.

It was easy! I soldered all of my connections and it only took an hour to do both sides, it would have been even quicker if I had used quick connectors but I prefer soldering these type of applications.

I'm debating on soldering or not. I'm the greatest at it but it really is better to do.

@mesojdm - weren't you considering making a kit to turn both lights into brake lights and move blinker down to reverse hole using a switchback for blinker and reverse? I'm trying to find that post, but I cannot find it.

This thread page 3 post #52.

Edit: I too am looking for @mesojdm to produce them. I may try to find the plugs, switchbacks, LED's for the uppers, etc.... but I know he has the skills to do it right and make it a straight PNP.

Exactly what I was looking for. I guess my memory thought it was in a different thread, not this one. Thanks for showing me where it is

Great thanks. I'm trying to decide between wiring both lights to be brake and signal or to go the route of mesojdm and move the blinker down to reverse section.

@mesojdm post up ur wiring diagram for making both the top and stop light the bottom as a turn signal. Im waiting for the new triton v6 to come out since they dont have the v3 and im going to use rigid ignite flush mount for my reverse well thats the plan.

From my researching... The combining of the signals using the DD module is the cheaper and easier solution. That said you are cutting 2 wires and inserting the module. You could revert back to stock by removing the DD module and reconnecting the blinker and brakes as they were originally.

@mesojdm suggested making a full PNP setup. So if I understand correctly... unplug the socket from the harness and plug it into his harness then his harness either plugs into the socket or replaces the socket, depending on how he builds it, then the LEDs go in for the top section. The switchback would require the reverse light hole to be expanded/enlarged to accomidate a T20 LED (in his custome made adapter) vs the current T10 socket holding the single white reverse light. This will make the diameter of the hole to large to revert back to stock.

If you go this route, know that the wires you cut are too big for the small butt connectors. You will need to replace them with bigger 14awg blue ones or just solder them together. No one mentioned this beforehand unless their kit was different.

This is a good point and I do agree with you. I have always liked the way mesojdm's tail lights turned out when he did his led lights so if he went that route then I would assume the risk of enlarging the reverse hole.

Thanks for letting me know. I most likely will solder since it's a better connection.
