For a front skid 1/4" is over kill for 95% of people on here and unnecessarily heavy. Especially considering most the places you bash it have stuff behind it so it doesn't bend much. The belly skid is where 1/4" is needed badly and good design.

3/16 up front is usually more than enough

I could use 1/4 up front.

My last truck was a crew cab F250 w/ 8' bed. Filled that bed with bricks, filled it with flagstone.... Can't imagine doing that as easily with a Suburban.
Can't see putting a couple of buddies in a suburban & our dirt bikes in the back of it upright.
Suburban's have their place for hauling people & sometimes stuff, but if you want to haul stuff & sometimes people, the F250 just works better.

After tearing multiple holes in my stock skid I think I want 1/4" plus I need the extra weight for my 650lb coils until I get my bumper, winch, and dual battery setup purchased.

I completely agree, but I was referring to the Ford centurion which is essentially a quad cab f250 with a bronco rear end so pretty much a suburban.

Don't buy a big skid for temporary "extra weight," that you'll later regret and have to spend "non-extra money" replacing :). Plus, a 1/4" skid doesn't add enough extra weight over 3/16" to make all that much difference for your coils.

    It's so cheap though!

Well shit maybe I'll reconsider the 1/4" then, RCI has some 3/16 skids on sale for about the same price and I can pick up locally , but even though they are listed under 96-04 Tacoma the description says 96-02 4runner? Guess I'll have to try calling them tomorrow.

I did the same thing with my stock skid, it made mounting a rat prod. Skid diffucult to say the least.

If you make any progress post it up, I will tackle it after x mas on my end.

Yea, I think they all do that eventually. I replaced mine a couple of years ago. 2003 with 190k when done.

    Radiator question:

My truck is the 3.4L w/ manual transmission. I’m looking at Denso since they’re 1/2 the price of OEM but it gives me two options and I’m stumped on which one I need.

Both have a transmission oil cooler included which I thought was for automatic transmissions.

The only difference I can see between the two is that one is 2” taller. I could go measure the one that is in it now but I’m wondering if I’m even looking at the right one since it has the trans oil cooler included.

    Part #’s 221-3138 and 221-3136.

They leave the trans cooler on for 'universal fit', but it's not needed on the manual. On my last truck, I just plugged the trans cooler side so it wouldn't get dirt inside.
