Rattle? You ain't got no rattle! Drive my truck and you'll see rattle...At the beginning was known as cement truck...now is called the CONCRETE VIBRATOR! :muscleflexing: Stock front with 700# coils, rear full RXT leaf pack, E rated tires inflated to 65psi. I am way past the "why is this thing rattle?", now I am well settled on "why is this thing NOT rattle?...must be broken.":pout:
.Wearing sun glasses is pointless, they end up in the lap in the first 100 yards. Also talking while driving is futile, need to keep teeth tightly clenched or risk a bit tongue :facepalm:and I sound like fluent Ozzy. My truck can cure constipation! 15 min ride and you go like no tomorrow:broccoli:

It's a Toyota! My 2nd Gen has more rattles then a baby toy. Both front windows. Extra cab sliding window, Stereo face plate, passenger side seat slider. I have rattles that only happen when its under 50 degrees outside that comes from the rear panel of the extra cab.

I had a rattle on my DC rear window when it was partially open. The dealership had to replace the window track (under warranty) as it had somehow become bent.

    Easy Fix.

Just pop the plastic panel off. Go buy some 1/4" foam strips with adhesive backing. Attach to the door between the painted metal and window seal . It pushes the inside seal out and put pressure on the window.

I initially tried 1/8" neoprene foam, however that compressed after awhile and the rattle returned. I doubled it up and it fixed it.

You really can't tell the foam is there once you put the panel back on. The clips will stay in the door when you pull the panel. Take them out of the door and put back into the panel before you attempt to reinstall.

This seems to have been a problem since the 1st gens

My 02 had it on the driver side until I tightened the bolt holding the track in place...at least on that one, the bolt holding the track was accessible without removing parts...open door, tighten, fixed

My window didn't move at all front or back, it would push in an out. My tapping noise was the top of the window tapping the weatherstripping causing a noise when partially down. Reproduce-able by just grabbing the window and moving in and out.

Thanks for this! How does the initial panel pull off? Is there a good play to pull it from?
I'm guessing you roll down the window and pry off?

Theres a push-pin that you need to access when the door is open. Press the center circle in and it pulls right off.

Its just that A pillar panel for the side mirror. Its separate from the door panel. Item 7 in the pic

You just grab the panel, you can catch the lip close to the window, and pull it straight out. There are only 4-5 of those red tab retaining clips that hold it on.

having the window rolled down helps as you can push the inside seal out and install the foam behind it.

My passenger rear one squeaks when doing 75+ on a highway, and is rolled all the way up. Dealership couldn't replicate it to fix it. Highly certain it is the window moving, but can't tell for sure.

That sounds like a different issue, this is when the window is partially down in any position.

Hmm... It does squeak when in the down position as well, only when I am on a bumpy road though. Could be a totally different issue, haha.

I had the dealer fix mine. I rolled the window down and shook the window to show them. They replaced the seals. The sound was fixed for about 6 months. Just recently it came back. Next visit I will have them try again.
