LOL good point. I live in the "city" so I never really got the true NH experience.

I think you're confusing rural and inbred. Someone from rural NH was calling Mainiacs inbreds I believe. Your defense may still apply though depending on the area...

I would love to have a schedule like that. I think I'm averaging a 5/60 week but have spiked beyond 5/80 on rare occasions. Usually, if I break 80 hours in a week, it involves a 6 or 7 day work week.

    Been there!

I feel like production goes down in most cases when hours turn into days and days turn into weeks if you know what I mean. Sometimes less is more!

Shrug. Parts of rural NH are just as likely to branchless family trees as parts of rural ME. Though I think it's less of a problem now that there's these horseless carriage things starting to get more popular. Lets people get out of the backwoods.

It certainly does, but I'm salaried so I don't think they really care if productivity goes down. Just means I'll work longer hours to make up for it.

With the trades though, there is a lot of evidence that working stupid long hours is not sustainable beyond about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, you end up just paying a shit load of overtime but you're really only accomplishing what you would have if you just kept the workers at 40 hours. I really try to run my jobs like that. I may pile on the hours for a couple weeks to get a specific task completed, but there is a set end date, not just working 10-12 hour days until we catch up. That rarely works and it gets really expensive.

I don't know man, I used to think that but then I started spending more time in Aroostook County. Spend an hour on a Friday night in the Hannafords in Caribou Maine... I'm not sure there are people like that ANYWHERE else on this planet.

    Two words:
    Dixville Notch.

When I rode thru there a few years ago I was felt like everybody I passed stopped and watched me ride by. Like 'this guy ain't from 'round these parts'

If there's enough of them to where the area has a name for them, I think that tells me about all I need to know...

It's a fun evening, live band fire pits and good beer. They will have Santa Sack soon, freaking good. Their Panama Red aged in bourbon barrels.
