Im trying to stop my dog kennel from slamming into my toolbox. i have shortbed DC. I was looking for a mat that wasnt as over kill as the toyota oem mat that weighs 50lbs and is 115. I dont need protection, i trust the bed, I just need some traction. Anyone have some pics/info of where they got it/brand of a black one? Or was there anything imparticular you sprayed/ put onthe grooves of the bed to make it hold?

If you want to do it on the cheap , maybe a remnant of outdoor carpet ?

yeah i thought about the carpet but im pretty big on trying to keep things as stock looking as possible where its not noticable plus thatg carpet would hold water. I guess ive got a thinner black one that is durable made up in my mind but not sure who makes one up to that standard.

TBH, I got the stock Toyota bedmat for $90 from the local dealer without even asking for a discount. I wouldn't use anything else, fits perfect, doesn't weight nearly as much as you said... just a little shock absorb from the thickness but more importantly stuff doesn't slide unless you REALLY try. Best $90 yet.

ok, so its not 50lbs? i read on here somewhere where someone said that so i wasnt sure. What should i say to the dealer. 90 bucks is good but they quoted me 115. Ive noticed alot of different prices not just with this mat but alot in general from dealerships.

I just checked for the OP (and myself), it's 50 + 10 shipping for me...$60 to your door. If you can't find a good deal in the classifieds on here for an OEM that's probably your best bet.

Well I didn't weigh it, but it was lighter than my ifs skid plate for sure....

Just be nice and ask if they can hook you up a bit on it... never know they might give you a discount.

Honestly I got the OEM Bed mat. just goes with the truck, looks great, and is nowhere near 50 pounds. Maybe 20 pounds, but I don't even think it was that much.
It works great too.. Just today I had a couple saws in the back, and they never moved... Well at least until I hit the huge ass speedbump... gah I hate those things! lol
Good luck with finding what you need.
try autoanything.com if nothing else.. they have everything plus the kitchen sink..

I want the bed mat too but just can't justify it. But I don't think I'd trust it anyway.

Why are you not using tie downs or bungies? I use them on EVERYTHING. I have 6 cleats in my bed (on each bolt) and leave a criscrossed pattern of bungies on the rear 4 at all times. I also leave straps in the cubbies and extras under the rear seats.

If you were to go around a sharp enough corner or wreck into something...poochie ain't staying in the bed - he's going flying or will get slammed into the tool box. We strap our kids carseats in...why not our dog kennels?

I bought a horse mat, it weights about 80 lbs. It's about 1/2" thick and cost about $100. It's thick rubber so it's hard to cut out for the fenders. Not only does it keep things from moving around in the back of the bed it also protects the thin fiberglass bed. I can throw anything into the back of the truck and it wont dent the back of the bed. oh, it's 4' x 6'.

How about using tie-downs to keep the kennel from moving?

What's wrong with having a Toolbox and a Kennel? I know a few people that have both. See if you actually go offroading and go camping, you'll understand that a toolbox has MANY uses. Here's one use. You can Safely keep all your tools and gear in that box without worrying about them falling out or sliding around.

As for the OP, I'd shop around for a bed mat. Or you can install some D-Rings towards the front of the bed or Middle of the bed and use them as a tie down point and tie down the Kennel.

For the OP, I got quoted for the bed mat $85.00 for a long bed, so I bet you can the short bed mat one for less.

Also, strapping the kennel would be a pretty good idea. I know i'd do it.

Well it's a plastic crate/kennel not a dig box but it's more than that, there's not much that won't slide. What's OP?

x2 on the tie downs. if you just have a bed mat. the dog is gonna tumble around when you go around a turn or hit the gas or brake hard enough. secure that down.

if i was a dog in the box of your truck in a kennel, and i started tumbling uncontrollably id bite u just for doing that when you opened it up.

edit* holy devil post. # 666
